Robelinda Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Tough one, Border was simply magnificent. Best Aussie bat I've seen. the quality of bowling he faced was incredible, almost every series. Ponting has had a lot of very easy bowling attacks to murder, same for Waugh. I would rate Border 1st, then Waugh, then Ponting. Fans in this current generation just can't fathom how it must have been to face the WI in the 80's, it was so unfair, brutal.
~ Miss Warner ~ Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I prefer Ricky Ponting, not just for cricketing ability but as a person, I have had the displeasure of meeting Steve Waugh and he is one of the most arrogant people I have ever met in my life.
Robelinda Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Ive met all 3 guys, thought Waugh and Ponting were deadset asses. Border every time was a total genuine nice guy. Waugh and Ponting both thought the sun shone out their backsides, was not impressed.
pensionplan Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Of the batsman I saw or followed I think Border is the best Australian batsman having played very good attacks across the board when Test cricket was at its best in the late 70's through the mid 90's. Ponting is great no doubt and ranks amongst the the best of this generation alongside BCL, SRT etc but Border to me is a better Test batsman than RP all things considered.
