Profiles of real Heroes

Lets share stories of real heroes, who are not as popular and famous as they should be, for starters I would introduce you to Pat Tillman. Mr.Tillman was a successful, pro footballer in the NFL pulling down 6-8 million dollars a year, when 9/11 happened, he took a semi retirement from NFL enlisted in the army to fight against the terrorists. Usually when you sign for the armed forces you give a commitment for 3 years, which you cannot get off easily. Tillman, went to Iraq was completely disillusioned with the US governments efforts towards this war, and was allowed to get out of the army (due to his fame as a NFL player). He declined and stated he wanted to serve the full 3 years even if he did not agree with the government and the war. On April 22, 2004 Tillman was killed in Iraq via friendly fire. The US government awarded him the Silver star, posthumously even though he died via friendly fire, they advertised it as him dying in action, probably to change the focus of the american public from criticizing the government actions and change it to adulation of Mr.Tillman. The army and the government did a lot of things, bordering on illegality including not turning Mr.Tillman's personal belongings to his family (important in this was his diary, in which he supposedly had documented his misgivings about the war in Iraq and criticizing the Bush government policies). To this day, Mr. Tillman's family is fighting its own war with the US government and the US army to reveal all the details surrounding his death. As if this was not enough, Pat Tillman's brother, Kevin Tillman also turned down a professional baseball career to enlist in the army along with his brother Pat. Hmm I admire him for joining up and everything' date=' but he continued to fight even though he didn't agree with the war??[/quote'] Having an opinion is a other thing and having the power to amend that opinion is other. Army men are nothing but bunch of puppets whose strings are in the hands of men in pentagon. @ triam: good topic. Thanks for sharing
