DomainK
I think Ponting is the greatest of all times in hitting the stumps. Rhodes of course was way better than Ponting in all other departments- anticipation, diving, catching, collection, recovering, throwing...everything. But POnting hits the stumps more often. DomainK
I can never forget this one by Kiran More. Crowe is the batsman : 75zIsawoAsM Amazing reflexes there. The collection and throw- both were amazing. It also reminds me that Azhar was great in backward throws. He used it successfully more than once. Not sure if we will find something on youtube. ViruRulez
Amazing...More was underrated' date=' especially his batting.[/quote'] I dont think More was under rated. He was just ok batsman and nothing more. Even Dinesh Karthik is a better wicketkeeper batsman than More. Maybe Parthiv Patel and Saba Karim were also better w/k batsman than more. During More's time, the wicketkeeper mainly used to be a specialist instead of a batsman too. But nowadays the situation has completely changed and wicket keepers do not even get a chance to enter international teams without being a good batsman. All the countries have wicket keeper batsman nowadays whereas during More's time hardly any country had w/k batsman. All used to be specialist w/k then. Link to comment
99.94
Best 11 fielders off all time.. Ponting Rhodes Symonds Gibbs M. Waugh Dravid M. Clarke Purely for slips catching Hayden (off spinners) Tubby Taylor Who else?? Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Please. Clarke, Dravid, Symonds in the best of all time fielding? Azharuddin was a better fielder than Clarke, Dravid or Hayden (re. catching on the last). If you talk catching though, Eknath Solkar was one of the GREATEST specialist catchers for any position at fwd short leg. David Boon was also a fantastic short leg fieldsman. Greg Chappell was another brilliant fielder. Ditto Roger Harper and Clive Lloyd. Link to comment
99.94
Ha well I was inclined to put Dravid in there otherwise I thought I might get torn a new one.. Well, if you set an orthodox field for a paceman, what would it be and who would you put where? Ponting in the covers? Rhodes at point? Waugh in slips? Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
You may still get torn a new one for suggesting that Symonds or Hayden could be superior to the Big Cat, Chappello or Azhar! Slip cordon: Mark Taylor at first slip, Azharuddin at second slip, Mark Waugh at third. Herschelle Gibbs at gully, Jonty Rhodes at cover point. Big Cat Clive Lloyd at extra cover - either him or Greg Chappell. Eknath Solkar crouching at short leg, Greg Chappell at midwicket (if Lloyd is in the off side). Out in the leg side at backward square leg (maybe deep?), we can stick in Roger Harper - who had an arm like a cannon. To complete it, I'll say stick Healy behind the sticks as the keeper (and just to make sure the fielders actually had use, have McGraaaaa the Great bowling.) Link to comment

And have Sachin Tendulkar batting:giggle::giggle::giggle: I would not be surprised if GOD is able to find sweet gap in between the great fielders to drive the ball for a four. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
If you have Tendulkar batting, then the entire field becomes irrelevant. Link to comment

The great spin quartet - Bishen Singh Bedi, Prasanna, B S Chandrasekar and S Venkataraghavan were blessed to have close-in catchers like Eknath Solkar and Abid Ali. I wish Subash Gupte had such great fielders during his time. A little OT...with all due respect to Kumble and Bishen Singh Bedi, Subash Gupte was the best spinner India has ever produced. Infact, the great Gary Sobers and Frank Worell have gone on record saying that he was the most difficult bowler they had faced. Link to comment
