Team out of sync with seam, swing TIMES NEWS NETWORK / Dwaipayan Datta PrintCommentMail KOLKATA, May 6: Young Bangladesh pacer Mashrafe Mortaza had wrecked India's top-order with his cutters and swinging deliveries when the two teams met in the World Cup. Had Mortaza watched Team India's final practice session at the Eden Gardens on Sunday morning, he would have surely licked his lips in anticipation of bagging a few more next week, when the ODI series begins in Bangladesh. Yuvraj Singh, on whom rests India's hopes, had a torrid time on Sunday against the likes of Munaf Patel, RP Singh and Yo Mahesh. India's captain-in-the-making was at sixes and sevens as he kept edging the ball with impunity. It was only after Yuvraj had moved to the spinners' net that he looked comfortable. He even lofted one over the boundary, the ball landing on the lower-tier of the BC Roy Club House. Mahendra Singh Dhoni also struggled against the moving ball and was wrapped repeatedly on his pads. Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar, too, looked distinctly uncomfortable as the seamers enjoyed bowling on a lively Eden Gardens track. Asked about the team's preparation for the Bangladesh tour, manager Ravi Shastri merely took a dig at Greg Chappell's regime. "When I met the boys a month back I got the feeling that they were not enjoying their cricket at all. It seemed they were doing a 10-to-5 job, sitting in front of their computers. My job was to get them out of that mode and make them enjoy the game again," the former India captain said. Shastri may have a point there because the players seem to be getting along well. The seniors, especially Tendulkar, have gone out of his way to help his team-mates. It was no different on Sunday. Manoj Tewari, after a knock in the middle, sought advice from Tendulkar, and the Little Master had a 10-minute chat with the Bengal rookie. The fans, too, appear to have forgotten all about World Cup misery. A few hundred of them, who were present in the stands on the last day of the camp, stayed back, braving the heat to wish the players good luck for the series ahead.
