Are placid pitches to blame as India run Sri Lanka ragged? : Dileep Premachandran

They were following on in that game. At the end of day 4 they were 84/2, needing to simply bat through day 5 on that pitch to survive the test. Obviously given the state of the wicket (which led to a lot of complaints from the Australian camp and media after that test) and the situation in the match - with the series tied 1-1 until then - run making was not a priority.

Oh boy! Had that been an Indian spinner taking 19 wickets in one single test match, curators/indian team/and the spinner himself would have been lashed out by the opponents/nincompoop ICC and the world media. Why didn't ICC raise issues when test matches in NZ finish within three days. Remember the match (99 AO, 94 AO, 150 something ao, 150/5-6):haha:. But its obviously our batsmens' lack of ability to negate swinging deliveries and the bouncers. It is pretty simple, we have to prepare some sort of dust bowls to be able to have a result oriented pitch or a flat track where you have all the time in the world to place your shots.
