DesiChap
Piyush Chawla may make ODI debut ENS Posted online: Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 0000 hours IST Not quite keen to risk cramped-up pace hope Sreesanth, Team India might just give 18-year-old rookie leg-spinner Piyush Chawla his first one-day cap tomorrow. It?s not confirmed yet, but if Chawla does play, the second one-dayer against Bangladesh would mean a comeback to the big stage for Aligarh?s pride. It would also see India borrow a page from the Bangladesh book by fielding a three-pronged spin attack ? Ramesh Powar?s off-spin, Dinesh Mongia?s left-arm tweakers and Chawla?s leggies. The night before the match, the inside word is that there is a ?strong possibility? of Chawla playing in place of Sreesanth who has not completely recovered from Thursday?s gruelling outing ? the Kochi pacer had returned to the dressing room for treatment after his first and only spell of five overs, before returning to the field in the f a g end of the Bangladesh innings. Chawla, who was a key member of India?s under-19 team last year, has played just one Test so far, against England at Mohali in March 2006, with just the wicket of Andrew Flintoff to show for in the two innings. Now, the bubbly teenager, who can also hold his own with the bat, will hope that he will finally be able to flaunt that coveted one-day cap, too. Link to comment

WTF is mongia doing in the team... best place to blood a youngster is here.... minnows on dust-bowls.... if he fails here, he is useless... even mongia with his spinless magic grabbed 3 wkts against these minnows... King Tendulkar
Re: Piyush Chawla may make ODI debut Bowled very well. Yes bangla are cr#p and the wicket was in favour of spin. However, he still bowled well. Leggie turned, good googly and accurate. He is certainly a hot prospect :wtg: Link to comment
