Ram Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Recently, there has been a lot of coverage of the Inquiry Commission appointed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Britain's decision to join America in Invading Iraq in 2003. And Tony Blair has particularly faced a lot of hear from the committee members. There are allegations that he essentially 'pinned down' his Attorney General and forced him to give the legal go-ahead for the War, even the Attorney General himself is said to have been first extremely critical of the legal basis of such an invasion. There's also the whole question of why Britain decided to invade Iraq in the first place - Was it for Regime chance? Was it for disarming Iraq? I think the biggest casualty in all this will be Tony Blair's legacy as a leader of the Western world. Slowly but surely, he is steadily appearing as a British PM who simply toed the line of his evangelical counterpart from across the Atlantic.

Ram Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 I have no doubts that, had UK not supported the US' decision to invade Iraq, it would have made it almost impossible for US to go ahead with the war. But Tony Blair succumbed shamelessly and chose to sell the same dummy of WMDs and a non-existent terror link b/w the Baath regime and Al-Qaeda to sell the war to his own people. Shame on him, the blood of 1,00,000 dead innocent Iraqi civilians and nearly 10,000 allied forces blot his hand.

Worst thing is that all these leaders shamelessly refuse to accept that they made a mistake. The ex-Aussie PM chose to blame the intelligence although that intelligence did tell that " WE HAVE NO CLUE IF HE HAS WMDs"
