OK then - lets agree to disagree. But as always I appreciate that you understand the futility of fining Styris. Also with that example, it is not as much as taking it out of context as a projection of what might happen in the future. You know, the batsman does not always need to lie down and take all the abuse. One of these days they might decide to follow Ian Chappell's advise and set their mind to get at the bowler himself with a bat! Where will the game be then? That is precisely why such acts of rage (amplified by a sense of impending defeat in the game) must be culled. Whether the player is Australian or Indian or Kiwi or South African.
I think that sums things up. Bowlers need to behave themselves. Batters have the right to feel insulted. On a lighter note, I'm sure Bradman99 would feel insulted if Glenn asked him the same question that he asked Sarwan :icflove: So yeah, we don't want this to become a contact sport. What Gambhir did was wrong, he got banned very harshly. When Benn was wrong, he got banned very harshly. When an Aussie does it, he gets away with 60% fine, which is peanuts compared to the fines meted out in similar circumstances above. All I ask for, and I'm sure I have Bradman99 on board when I say this- "EQUALITY while taking decisions should be the norm. Preferentiality & bias doesn't work".

Equality should be the norm, I have never said otherwise. But that doesn't mean Johnson should be banned. It means the ICC should ban him. Doesn't mean he SHOULD be banned.

I fail to believe that the sole reason why Johnson was getting so worked up and would go up to Stryis like that would be because he was getting smashed
That is a bowler for you. No bowler likes being smashed. And you know that. Lets not try blaming the game of "ignorance" here.
He's been smashed before and never reacted like that. Stryis must of said something or got in his way or something like that for Johnson to react in the way he did.
Thats rivalry. Isn't the Trans-Tasman rivalry (correct me if I'm wrong) as strong as the Indo-Pak rivalry? Things happen when you are rivals. Coz you hate losing to your rival. Be it in school or life. For more on the subject, read post #123.

Whatever makes you happy. I can't go on repeating the same thing again and again, if I don't have the incentive of you "getting convinced". Some days later, when you go through the 150 posts in this thread, you'll get the point :icflove:

Pfft screw it I'm not going through it again, in fact I wont check it again till tomorrow so if I don't reply it's not because I'm a "typical aussie", it's because I have other stuff I need to do. I keep posting the same thing as well, you don't get my point either. But hey, that makes you right doesn't it, cause you are the "proffessor" of cricket ethics. Peace, don't break the keyboard typing.

So Gambhir lightly touches Watson with his elbow and he is banned for a match and a test match in that' date=' Johnson bumps into Styris, bumps heads?, swears at him and only 60%, well done again ICC and now things are only going to get worse with that scum Howard[/quote'] They bumped into each other you muppet. Unlike Gambhir who went out of his way to elbow someone.

Your a good user. Don't call people names. And Sachinism is right in his viewpoint. I'm sure you know that we don't hold in high regard the biased decisions by the match refs

And then Johnson went over the top and began to behave like a kid. Gambhir got abused all day by the Australians, Katich was doing his best to grab the batsmen to stop them getting runs and then Gambhir pokes out his elbow which brushes Watson (please don't tell your stupid enough to believe something like that hurt Watson in any way) and he gets banned, but thats fine because I guess he's not Australian

Guys I don't think we should interfere here, It was between Australia and New Zealand. I hardly see Aussies interfering in PAK/IND matches. We should just end it here, quite pointless this discussion as it has nothing to do with our players. I say it's quite healthy for the competition. It was an entertaining match so let's hope for another dishoom dishoom in the 2nd ODI.

I think we have a right to discuss and analyse some of these decisions taken by ICC and see if there is a motive behind them, because there really seems to be.

It is not as if Indians own all cricket when India plays a match and Australia owns all cricket when it is their team featuring - Bravo87. This is cricket being played and it is a game we all love. How can we sit back when we see something patently unfair going on? I would have said the same thing even if Gambhir were not to have been put in such a situation earlier.

We can only discuss but at the end of the day it makes us look like Aussie whinners or complainers, doesn't it? If there was in anyway we could contact ICC and let them know about the injustices showed toward Asian cricketers I would be the first person to join you:--D

In which case, Bravo87 - we should not be complaining about infrastructure or politics in India because unless and until we can hand over our complaint to the PM or his office there is no use, right? :) I understand - we are just discussing. The ICC is hardly going to browser through these forums and take actions. Just us fans venting some hot air and finding fellow human beings to agree with and sometimes disagree with :) All part of the game.

You can easily contact ICC, but its a matter of how seriously they will take us or whether they care. Lets make a note of all the injustices and send it to them

Also how lenient the match refree has been towards Aus, Eng and NZ.
