Of these, two batsmen ended up averaging over 80, while Jayasuriya had a 36+ average. Zero England top/middle batsmen finished the tournament with a strike rate over 80. Of regular batsmen, Graham Thorpe came closest with his 76 strike rate. Random thought after watching highlights of England's embarrassing defeat against South Africa in the prelim league.
