Yusuf Pathan [ Images ] has overtaken Jacques Kallis [ Images ] to become the most valuable player of IPL3 after the first 25 matches (i.e., as on the morning of March 29) with a MVPI of 447. - Indian Premier League The table below lists all IPL3 with a MVPI of at least 100. The MVPI expresses an IPL player's batting, bowling and fielding performance as a simple 'run equivalent'. The last column lists the paisa vasool index (PVI) of these players. To calculate the PVI we divide the money earned so far by a player by the player's MVPI. A low PVI value means that the player has either been bought cheap, or has performed exceptionally (i.e. has a high MVPI). Therefore, the lower a player's PVI, the better is the value he offers the franchise owner.
I could not paste the valuable players list. You can check the full list at: http://cricket.rediff.com/report/2010/mar/29/ipl-2010-most-valuable-player-yusuf-pathan.htm It is interesting mainly because the present contract fees of the players are shown. YP is not being paid only 30K it seems. He is at a contract fees of 475K dollars. I wonder how much was Jadeja paid and was his contract fees increased or not for which he was bargaining with other franchisees. :hmmm: Most people who have performed have got their contract fees increased by their franchisees. But there are a few surprises too. Mathooze is only at 30K, Pandey only at 30K, Ojha only at 30K and Nannes only at 70K. Anyways good list compiled at rediff.

Their formulas suck. CSK has 8 players in their list' date=' and 5 in the top few. Kumble and Kartik are out of the top 25. Those guys should be in the top 5. Albie Morkel and IP in the top 10 is a joke.[/quote'] I agree that their formulas suck to some extent. But the reason Albie and IP are in the top 10 are because of their all round abilities .. from a monetary point of view an all rounder is more beneficial to a team as well as a franchisee .. because they are both scoring runs as well as taking wickets .. from a commercial point that makes sense because you are getting two benefits from a single player instead of a specialist bowler or a specialist batsmen .. but overall I also felt many irregularities in the formula .. the PVI column makes more sense if we count value in terms of money because a Manish Pandey or an Angelo Mathews at 30K is the best return for the money invested
