King
Re: India's 'Saddam Hussein' village "This is our way to pay tribute to our leader. We want to carry on his legacy here at least in our village," said Ejaj Alam. "God willing one day our village will be full of Saddam Husseins." Other villagers feel equally passionate about the issue. Saddam Hussein in court. File photo Saddam Hussein is hero of the village "George Bush can hang one Saddam Hussein but we will create an army of Saddam Husseins. Let him come to our village and see how Saddam Hussein can never be executed," local leader Ayub Khan said. There is no talk here of the former Iraqi leader's appalling human rights record, no mention of the people he murdered and no references to his numerous "miscalculations". All that is brushed aside by the Saddam Hussein personality cult. Close to the village is the only private school, Dini Academy, where almost 100 Saddam Husseins come to read, write and know more about the former Iraqi leader. "It was during the Gulf War we came to know about the bravery and valour of the Iraqi president who mustered courage to defy American diktats," Mr Nizamuddin said. Dumb bastards, someone needs to educate these people about the "True Saddam". The Iraqis celeberated his death while these guys try and put together another 100 Saddams. Wonder why these guys somewhere in a remote place in India have a need to support Saddam. It is not like Saddam helped them or the USA made their lives miserable.

It's quite funny how this man evoked contrasting emotions in same person over years. My uncle guru mentor whatever u call him had a muslim colleague who used to go by the moniker Taukir Saheb among us kids, fairly easy going fellow he was. We were particularly fond of his hilarious description of hospitalilty received at our farm-house. Next day in class he will give descriptions of the same with words like Baliram Babu ( my uncle's name) ke yahan kya khatirdaari hui , chura khilahish dahi khilahish hatta hatta aam khilahish chai to goya cream, dahi-chura ka dawat chura-dahi ka nahin :lmao: and then he will burst into laughing ruptures and all of us students used to give him company . His class used to be story session; had a very engaging and unique way of story telling. The moment he would enter the class ever expected question will pop up: so stduies or stories?? we all used to go in unison; story sir and we could tell that was his choice too. :wtg: Enough of background so Taukir Saheb being Shia was an out and out hater of Saddam during iran/Iraq war and used to have quite a debate with my uncle who is an India-first kind of person and everything else comes later in matters of geopolitics. But suddenly when first gulf war broke out Taukir Saheb's emotion took an 180 degree phase shift with him becoming an apt admirer of Saddam.
