And now theres a Punjab in Pakistan and in India' date=' does it mean they were all the same people and could have same ancestry?[/quote'] yes. infact all the non dravidian inhabitants of northern region of the indian sub continent share a common ancestry. this does not include however, the inhabitants of assam and the other north eastern states and bhutan. the punjabi, the rajasthani and the marwari are all decendents from a single gene pool. i d say the uttar pradeshi and the bihari could be tossed into that category too.

And even the ones who have virtually no West Asian lineage end up acquiring that orientation so that they view themselves as South Asian Arabs--I know you think I'm crazy but a lot my close Pak. friends who look VERY INDIAN become VERY INSULTED when someone white says something like, ... "Yeah, yeah ... Pakistani/Indian same thing." They usually counter with: "I'm of Arab descent." What went on about 1300-1000 years ago in the areas around the Hijaz is now happening in South Asia. Non-Arabs by virtue of their religious conversion see themselves as biologically Arab. Egyptians, the inhabitants of the Levant, even Iraqis were never Arab, but slowly changed their perspective. Same thing is happing in south Asia currently. I would not be surprised if in 500 years Pakistan changed their name from the 'Islamic Republic of Pak.' to the 'Arabic Islamic Republic of Pak.'

It's as diverse (if not more) than India for it's size. Even within the Pakistani Punjab, you will have VERY INDIAN Pakistanis and Pakistanis who are more West/Central Asian than they are Subcontinental. For example, I can point out Hindus who look like carbon copies of Javed Miandad or Shoaib Malik, but it would very difficult to point out a Hindu who looks like Umar Gul or Imran Khan.

I never bothered to correct him :lmao: why sud I after all he makes sure to call me whenever fresh goat-meat arrives.. :wtg:

In fact, umar gul's face is a very typical punjabi face even though he's a pathan.

With all due respect , Umar Gul is a horse faced ugly looking dude whereas Punjabi's in general are good looking people. Probably the best looking people in India, in my opinion.

Same here, there is no better tastign food than mutton but it happens to be red . I would say go little easy on mutton intake once a fotnight i restrict it to. well my wife is vegetarian so I myself have turned into a virtual ghashahari..

Probably the best looking people in India, in my opinion. lol, have u been to villages in punjab ? that's the real punjab, and i've been to plenty 'coz that's where i'm from. Yeah he's not good looking, but those features aren't that rare to find in punjab is all i'm saying. Btw, most male models in India come from the haryanawi jats than punjab.

Interesting thing is that my great great grand father was a Sikh hence my last name is one of the most common Sikh names.
