Recently There has been so much criticism about our players unable to cope with short balls on pitches in wi and england,Which is one side of the story ,even the greatest puller of mordern era ricky ponting struggled against short stuff by genuine pacers.But some batsman do like raina have technical deficiency no doubt.But players like- Robin Uthappa- who If people remember Batte dat NO3 In World T20 In SA And Opened In Finals Of CB SERIES In Aus ,and did well in conditions where bounce was more was given a raw deal after asia cup on flat pitches where he was batted at 8 against mendis in the final. Irfan Pathan-What can i say this guy could make in to 7 out of the top 10 Internatuional sides Sreesanth- he got hammered in the ipl but pace does matter no body can forget his last ball at 145.8km/h against misbah in the first match of world t20 in sa or his spell against aus in semifinal or final of cb series he is surely a big match player.he should be given a attacking role . Ishant shama-Again big match player R.p Singh-Was" Swinging the ball at pace" as ravi shastri said in the final .Our best t20 international bowler . Captaincy-Dhoni from being a fearless captain now is a experienced captain with "Batting is our strength" Line which has been made famous by other indian captains.H eis not looking to improve the Bowling it seems. The Main Reason- Dilip vengsarkar VS Kris Srikant- The selection commitee headed by dilip was one man army and it was good as he knew who were good for internatioonal cricket not like chennai superking kris srikant who is dancing around.:finger:

It never ceases to amaze me the amount of fans that surface out of the woodwork when a team is down. You never see them come out when the team is up. I suppose it is always fun to knock when some one is down than praise them when we are up.

The weakness against short pitched bowling, while a very real concern, is somewhat exaggerated, IMO. It resulted in our getting knocked out, that and the much more worrying issue of discipline (if reports are to be believed). However, IMO, our weakness was not so much inability to play short pitched, as an inability to score quickly off short pitched bowling in a 20:20 match. While the former is an issue that needs working out, I believe the two are entirely different issues. Assuming that they get into peak match fitness, as is our right to expect as fans, I'd still back most of these players to perform much better* against short pitched bowling in a Test, and to an extent ODIs. * Doesn't mean they're going to be absolute killers, just that they will negotiate the ball more competently.

Exactly, in Test's as well as ODI's, you can leave a short ball every over (considering 1 for the over) and still score of the other balls, but in T20 you just have to play at about every delivery.

short ball is in-effective in 50-50 and tests. its the pressure of scoring off them which causes problems in t-20 where every ball needs to be scored off.

Yup. There is a distinct sadistic nature. Today I saw Dhoni's photograph in a newspaper with some witty sarcastic caption and pointed out to a friend how the same newspapers showered him with praise when he was winning. We cant be that fickle minded. The team is no1 in one format and no2 in another. We are a bit down in the third format which is more dependent on luck than anything else. So what?

In Test and 50-50 we have lot of to get into the grooves before get going ....but in T20 its a high pace game where u have to hit from 1st ball u can not leave many but yes ..our batsman must have shown some thoughts on their shot slection

IPL and the huge sums of money weren't there when we won in SA and Aus. Also our bowlers were lean and fit and bowling at 90 mph+. Even Irfan was easily touching 83-84 mph and PK was swinging it like as good as any other bowler in the world. But since the IPL sarted, our players have got fatter and a little complacent (esp the young batsmen and the bowlers). Fielding has suffered a lot. Drop catches of Watson, Gayle and Kapugedera hurt us the most in the 3 super 8 matches. Unless the likes of Ishant, Sreesanth and RPS get back their peak bowling form or if the new crop of Umesh Yadav, Unadkat and Dinda comes through well, we will continue to struggle in big tournaments.
