Should 20/20 final be a best of 3 ?

20/20's are short games, they don't last very long. Could easily make it a best of 3 series, adds excitement and means the winner truly earnt it. (not saying England didn't, they deserved it).. Also, how so ? The final was still played, just shortened to 36 overs.
First of all, a 3-game "Final" defeats the meaning of a "Final" :--D Finals are only supposed to be one game knock out games to see which of the best two teams can hold their nerves in various pressure situations. Second of all, time is never the issue! Be it T20, ODI or even Tests(to some extent), fans will adore it regardless of how long the game lasts. I think having a wash out "Final" shortened 36 overs is not even worthy of being called a "50-50" international tournament Final as it's not even 50 overs long. Having said that, its unfair to one of the two teams hence that game should be erased and a new game of 50 overs must be played. Not only the Final but every knock out game in the ICC tours should be re-played in the case of rain to give every team a fair chance to win.

somebody from the States can corect me or back me' date=' but the NBA has a best of 7 finals, but I think youare right internationally no sport probably has a best of 3 finals. Even in club football, you have home and away upto the S/F in the Champions league, championship play of S/Fs, but not in the finals.[/quote'] Yes, it's 7 games play-off Final. Which kind of doesn't make sense but at the same time they have 30 teams having a go at it so I guess it's fair enough.

Well i have a better idea. What about having 16 teams, and having round robin format, each team playing the other twice, once at home and then away(P.S : Pakistan will play at Dubai/Abu Dhabi). Then we will have top 8 teams in super eights where they will play each other twice again, then the top 4 will play semis finals (Best of 5 Semis) and then we will have Best of 15 Finals :woot: Then we will have Best of 25 game for the third place There will be more Tonty Tonty and everyone will get bored and quit watching Tontee Tontee, *phew*

I think we already have Tuk Tuk cricket for long and boring tournaments (no result, just to add), no need for all this.

Why just for T20? Even for ODIs the best competitions take place when there is a best of 3 or best of 5 gonig on. That is the reason why the CB Series is almost always interesting. However to say this after the match is over and Australia lost is a bit dim-witted by Ponting. Would he have said this if England had won? Food for thought, perhaps. He is denying England credit for their victory. And that is not very sportsmanlike. Australia have struggled with their top order at crucial times in this tournament and their middle order has pulled them through time and again. In the finals it could not do it for one last time. That is the problem. He would have sounded better had he acknowledged this and moved on. They still played good cricket though. England were simply better.
