Should 20/20 final be a best of 3 ?

I'm not just saying this because we lost but I was thinking about it the other day and than Ponting came out and also said it maybe should be.. What do you guys reckon, should the final of the 20/20m world cup be a best of 3 series given the nature of the format ?

I would love to do away with this semi stuff and instead let the top 2 teams on the basis of their performance in group stages play against each other in finals. That way each game will have importance in the league stage. So yes, removal of semi and best of 3 finals. Must do in world cup as wel.

So the final should not be a knock out game? Crazy thought. I feel that every wash out game from Super 8s, Semis and Finals should be re-played. It was unfair on SL's part to have lost that final in world cup 2007!

Could easily make it a best of 3 series, adds excitement and means the winner truly earnt it. (not saying England didn't, they deserved it).. Also, how so ? The final was still played, just shortened to 36 overs.

Absolutely not. In fact the concept of best of 3 finals is flawed in any sport. Semis and then finals, you play your best on 2 days you deserve to win. You slip up anywhere, you go out, sounds very very logical to me.

Till T20 becomes prominent in international level and has its own rankings, Only top 10 teams divided into 2 groups. Each play the other in the group 2 times.Top 2 goes to a best of 3 finals. 23 games total (max) and every game counts. After T20 gets its own rankings, only top 8 teams in a quaters,semis and finals format with each stage being best of 3. 21 games max and every game counts.

Its such a lottery format that you have to play 3 matches to decide who was the best. Why not just scrap the whole thing 2 innings of 20 overs for each team. Attract test match lovers :woot:

why only T-20 WC ... why not in 50-50 WC as well:--D seriously ever heard of best of 3 finals in any other sport ... for me any team that reaches final deserves to win it ... the one which performs better & handles pressure on the given day will be called the champs ... there is no need for unnecessarily lengthening the process by making it a best of 3

somebody from the States can corect me or back me, but the NBA has a best of 7 finals, but I think youare right internationally no sport probably has a best of 3 finals. Even in club football, you have home and away upto the S/F in the Champions league, championship play of S/Fs, but not in the finals.
