satyam1729 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I consider you as a good poster but here i have a problem... You say laxman averages 48 outside sub continent and Inzi 42 : Difference = 6 Stats shows Laxman averages 47.38 and Inzi averages 42.98: Difference = 4.40... That's already makes a difference.... But i want you to tell me how 47.38 becomes 48 and 42.98 becomes 42??? The main Point is that you should look at Inzamam's record when he was representiing his country and not a joke team called "world XI", and then his outside sub-continent averages his 44.18(without zimbabwe)... So difference is just 2.80.... So i don't see why you are making a so big thing of boths stats outside the subcontinent??? Regarding Australia : I have no issue, Laxman played brilliantly against them and Inzamam played poorly agaisnt them... But then if it was the only way to judge a player, why are you not rating Laxman over rahul dravid??? Dravid's averages agaisnt the aussies is 41,33 with 2 centuries in50 innings....Average agaisnt south africa is 36,51... And again, hisaverage agaisnt australia, is all but due to more than 30 runs in ONE MATCH agaisnt thelike of Williams, McGILL, Bichel and Gillespie. Just to show that you should not think that it was agaisnt MC Grath and Warne... In matches involving McGrath Dravid's average is 31 overall over 12 test matches (at a strikerate of about 30), and 14 in australia over 4 test matches.... I think thatdravid isbetter than laxman,Inzi and many others, but thatwas just to show you that you can' t point Inzamam's poor stats agaisnt Aus and South Africa and say that every batsman is better than him... There is so huge difference between him and Laxman... As i already said,Laxman makesmost of his runs in DRAW matches, inwich hebatsat an average of 60... Inindian winshe hasan oaverage of JUST 50... And yes just 50 because you rarelly find someone with a lesser average in Wins. Just to compare Inzi averages 78 in winswith 17 hundreds, Dravid averages 67, Tendulkar averages 67, viru averages 61, Younis averages 67... And I cancontinue on... Inzamam is just too much ahead of VVS Laxman to compare them.... And Inzamam scores most of his runs against weak attacks. AUS and SA were the 2 best side of last 20 years and Inzamam averages 31 against them. I have already shown you that Laxman averages 50 in middle order and Inzamam's higher average in winning cause is due to his inability to score against stronger attack. Inzamam would have never made into Indian side.

Even these three innings together are not as good as Inzamam's 50 in the semi final of the world cup...

Yes and curtly Ambrose 7/1 against OZ was not better than Akram's in final of WC. :haha::hysterical: You are an embarasssment to this planet. Do suicide.
S.Bond Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Context apart' date=' Laxman's knocks were against a much superior attack.[/quote'] To start with i have nothing agaisnt these Laxman's innings... But rating them better than Inzi's semi final knock is out of mind... Cricket is all about context, isn't it? The bowler you face, the stage you play, the pitch, batting first, second etc........

So Tendulkar 83 Against Kenya in 2003 WC semifinal was better than his 117 against OZ in 2008 :haha::giggle: Inzamam did not score against Mcgrath , Warne. Scored against NZ bowlers.

f2000560 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 In ODI's Inzi all the way. and though there is little to choose between them in test by way of stats one would have to give inzi the edge cause for quite a while he was probably pakistan's lynchpin and there was always more pressure on him to score. Laxman on the other hand had great company and the work load was more evenly spread. Yes he has played innings where he has been the lone ranger, led rescue's from behind etc etc. When you will look at the % of team runs scored in the tests they have played you will will probably have to root for inzi (haev't see the stat yet disc). but yeah its very very close
