Queen may be pinned, but that wouldn't stop black winning there. Rd3-h3 allows black to respond with Rd5-d1+, forcing the king to h2. Black then plays Rh1+, and white either can take the rook (at which point the black queen takes the white rook, and the pawn can't capture due to a pin from the bishop), or can escape to g3, allowing the black rook to take the white rook.
black rook takes white rook and white pawn takes the black rook...then what happens? (edit) hehehehe queen taken bishop  ok ok

Alright baize, another puzzle :woot: This one is not as straightforward as the previous one, but the idea is similar. White to move and get into a winning position. What are moves? Enjoy :D HINT: Forcing moves help :proud: bviewphp.png

I will have a go again. 1. Qh6+, Kg8 (If Rh7, Rd8+ wins the queen) 2. Rd8+, Rf8 (black can’t afford Kf7 as 3 Rd7+ leads to exchange of queen and rook followed by PxR) 3. Qe6+, R(g7)-f7 (King move will lose a rook) 4. Rf1, Qg7 (Rxd8 will lead to loss of a rook after 5. Qxf7+ , Kh8 .6 Qf6+) White can now exchange queen and both rooks leading to a winning end game with two passed pawns after Pg4.

Here is a possible set of moves: White: Qh6+ Black: Rh7 White: rd8+ Black: Qg8 White: Rg8- takes queen Black: Kg8- takes rook White QG6+ There can be several moves from there, but white is out of attack and is in a relatively easier position. Black however does not have to play Rh7 in the second move. So here is how it goes: White: Qh6+ Black: Kg8 White: Rd8+ Here black has the option of pushing the rook to f8 leading to a rook exchange bailing white out of the possible two move check mate and allowing white to free the rook on g1. Otherwise black moves King to h7, white moves rook to d7+ and then taking black's rook on g7 with the rook once the king moves out of the way. Now that leaves the back queen an option of either taking white's rook on g7. That will lead to a queen exchange following which white's pawn g2 will take black's rook on f3 Leaving back with some pawns and white with some pawns and a rook. Alternatively black takes the white pawn on h3, white takes the queen on h3 with the pawn, white takes that pawn on h3. The white king limps out and with better pieces and the g file covered by the rook there, white is in a very good position to win.

@moumotta: There is a much clearer path to victory for white :D
See it now. 1. Qh6+, Kg8 2. Qxg7+ (whites queen will be pinned next move after Pxf3 regardless of whether he captures the queen with queen or king)

no one is going to give hints during a game :mad::mad: wokay, some moves played out. On surface, things don't look good for white, but white to play and get into a winning position. 56z17ydmcp.png

Is white only trying to save mate with Rg1 and then capitalise on his one piece advantage. I stil can't see him able to capture the bishop at f3 next move (assuming black replies with Re8).

Solution: Black threatens mate with Qxg2 1. Rg1 Ng3+ 2. hxg3 Qxg3 3. Qh6!! White threatens mate on h7. If Black takes the Queen 3. ... gxh6, then 4. gxf3 would pin the Black Queen to the King. White will go on to win from here.
