ODI ranking...

Does anybody know how it actually works because australia stayed on the same points number all throughout it's home 10 one dayers which they all won except for after the fifth and tenth where they picked up 1 point each time. Yet the aussies lose their first game in ages in new zealand and straight away they lose a point. India didn't lose any points for losing a match to zimbabwe last week yet they picked up 1 for beating sri lanka. Can anyone tell me how this works?

With two straight losses to lowest rank side' date=' how severely would India's (hard earned) ODI ranking be affected?[/quote'] We are still no 2. SA and india both on 119 points, India no 2 on decimal points. Now we need to beat the Lankans and win the Asia to get back the points lost here.

I believe rankings are not updated until the last game of a series has been completed.
That is the case for Test series, but ODI rankings are updated more frequently.
