My point was that it is unfair to assume that Indians are "obsessed" with spelling bee results. Why just talk about British and the Pakis even we do. As a parent living I am extremely proud and am able to identify myself. There is a wry smile on our faces when our office mates go -- "You Indian Bastards you win all Spelling Bees." -- "What exactly do you teach your kids?" -- "What is the routine you follow to make your kids -- for one interested in these things and then make them competitive enough to win these." There is a feeling of pride in us --when other soccer moms go -- "Did you watch that yesterday -- the Spelling Bee?". I agree with you, and I think it is fine celebrating these achievements and feeling proud. I am only saying that if it were British or pakistanis they would have gone overboard with this, in contrast to the measured celebration (IMO) amongst Indians. Referring to Pakis -- I will talk about them some other day-- just to answer a lot of the Paki Morons right here on this forum who keep comparing themselves to India -- in every single line. They better realize India and Pakistan have hit a fork since 1975/1980 -- the Y of which has widenened so much,it is not even funny.Agree 100%, pakistanis and their society is beyond redemption, they are eventually going to end up as another Afghanistan or Somalia.

They are American citizens(in most cases anyway) for crying out loud. It is not exactly Spelling Olympiad where Indian kids are winning away the glories. Hell ya it matters..... Indians are lot more connected to their culture and roots compared to others.... Most britishers and Australians raising kids in America have more common with America than Indians...... ie: white, catholic, protestant or watever...... skin color, religion, language in common. This website is set up by mostly NRIs.... why celebrate Indian cricket team then? aren't they Canadian/American citizens??
