Here you go ...
Bowler Milestone SR Avg

N Kapil Dev	101	73.97	29.65
N Kapil Dev	205	67.17	29.14
N Kapil Dev	300	63.37	28.66
N Kapil Dev	402	63.03	28.87

Wow ... nothing like I expected. If anything, his SR improved. But, he has been accused of hanging around too long to get to the end. On the contrary, the man was still quite productive. Added in Edit: Maybe there is some basis for the accusation - I did a crude analyis. He went from 410 to 434 at a SR of 74, which is much worse than his career SR of 63. Hiis average was better (27 vs. career avg of 29) as was his ER (2.25 vs. career 2.8). In his old age, he was an economical stock bowler rather than a strike bowler. Dare I say line-and-length trundler? If only our youngsters were as good as he was in his old age!! Thanks again!

The list by BossBhai in post 18 is exactly the kind of ammunition a stats manipulator needs to discredit some of the best players around. Steyn's rank in that list does not in anyway derogate from the fact he's very assuredly on the way to be anointed as the best ever' date= across eras.
On the way .... that is the key. He has a long way to get there :-)!!

kalburgi kannada:hmmm:
The sweetest. I can't speak it (I am more of the urban "Yen Laa nan maganE" type), but love the sounds of Hubli/Dharwad Kannada. As well as the Udupi accent "Yentha maaraayarE ... Yeshtu saarthi heLDroo nim mandik hathlikilvEnu?"

^ Haha true that. Cricaddict I am like you though, spent an eternity in Kalburgi, but can't speak the language, more of the Urban Kannada, do a bit of the Chickmagalur side. Illa kannama, howdu maraya:P

this shows how waqar younis was at the peak of his powers during the first half of his career... itseems even imran khan had more hope for him than akram. he predicted that waqar will end up as the greatest of all fast bowlers in cricket... nice thread btw.

He ended up with a career SR = 43. That is just ridiculously good. Having missed watching cricket from ~1993 - 1998, I can't quite recall how his downfall came about. Was it politics or did he really decline significantly?

Dale Steyn,Waqar - Stats Against Tailenders Guys like steyn and waqar have great averages and strike rates and the reason is their bowling to tailenders. Our indian Fast bowlers have most toporders wickets in there careers and spinners most tailender wickets. Steyn-http://stats.cricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/47492.html?batting_positionmin1=8;batting_positionval1=batting_position;class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=default;template=results;type=bowling;view=dismissal_summary Almost HALF 94 wickets of 204 are of 7-11 this shows why his strike rate and averages are so low
