Sachinism
It was a run-fest on the opening day at Headingley as the India A top order made a perfect start to their tour of England, amassing 473 runs and losing just three wickets. Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane went past three figures, Abhinav Mukund fell nine short of his century and Cheteshwar Pujara remained unbeaten on 55 after 95 overs of toil for the Yorkshire bowlers. The Indians were the fresher lot in the field compared to their opponents, who were away at Worcester the previous day and as a result, play started an hour later. Abhinav and Dhawan scored at a brisk rate in the opening session, adding 132. Dhawan hit 14 fours before reaching his century, off 133 balls, but Abhinav fell just short of his century. The Tamil Nadu opener was dismissed by Moin Ashraf for 91, hitting 12 fours and a six in his knock. It took 43 overs for Yorkshire to break the stand, but there was more toil for the bowlers as Rahane joined Dhawan in a stand of 141. Rahane dealt mainly in boundaries, smashing nine boundaries en route to his fifty, and he went on to reach his century off 132 balls. Dhawan looked set to record a double-century, but the Delhi opener fell to Lee Hodgson for 179. Pujara joined Rahane and added a further 107 in nearly 22 overs to take the score past 400. Tino Best, the West Indian fast bowler, had some success when he had Rahane caught for 118. Doesn't really tell you anything you can't pick off the scorecard Link to comment

Serani
132/0 With AM Rahane, *CAP Pujara, M Pandey, MK Tiwary, +WP Saha still to come Seriously what is the point of this? If Yorkshire didn't want to play a proper team, why agree to a fixture. They might as well just play some decent club side Yorkshire are going for the county championship, dont want any injuries for some pointless game. Suprised Tino is playing to be fair. This is completely disrespecting India. Link to comment
saneindian
Next time the England Lions come to India on an A tour, have them play against the likes of Tripura, Jharkhand and Rajashthan. IIRC, 203 years back the England A team played in the Duleep Trophy and here we are wasting 3 precious days of the tour playing some good for nothing side. Link to comment

When any intenational team tours England, Australia, South Africa etc the warm up games are always against weakened state and county sides....this is hardly new. Link to comment
Sooda
Yeah no county puts their main players up vs A teams, I think when a proper team tours they do. This is just warm up for the matches vs WI and Eng A teams really.. Link to comment

I don't think we had Duleep trophy 203 years back. :omg: In fact I don't think India had even started playing cricket 2 centuries back!! Link to comment

Chandan
Manish Pandey didn't get enough time at the crease. Hope he gets opportunity in the next innings. Kulkarni has started the bowling for India. Hope our pacers cash on helpful pitch and overcast conditions. Link to comment
