Dark Warrior Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Sachin's words changed life: Tiwary Sachin's words changed life: Tiwary Indianexpress, Shamik Chakrabarty, 28 June 2009 A brief interaction with Sachin Tendulkar changed Manoj Tiwary's attitude towards life just when the Bengal and Delhi Daredevils batsman was pondering over his future, having been ruled out of the Indian Premier League's season two owing to a finger injury. "I will treasure those 20 minutes," says Tiwary of the discussion he had with Tendulkar South Africa. "I was disappointed after the injury. I was among the 30 probables for the World Twenty20 and a good tournament would've helped me a lot. However, Sachin made me understand that it was not the end of the world. He told me that I had age on my side and there's every chance that I would make a comeback. "He also said after these injuries, I would come back stronger. It helped me change my perspective towards life," says Tiwary, whose career has been punctuated by injuries. In 2007, on the eve of his ODI debut against Bangladesh, he had hurt his shoulder and had to return home. Maybe, it's the Tendulkar effect but he doesn't rue the missed opportunities anymore. "The lay off allowed me to read a couple of books on Oscar Pistorius and Lance Armstrong. They were really motivating," says the right-hander. Having recovered from the finger injury, Tiwary has set his sights on the opportunities ahead. "Up next is the Emerging Players tournament in Australia and the Champions League. Delhi Daredevils have qualified for the league and a good performance there will once again bring me back in contention. The next World T20 is less than a year away. I hope the rub of the green starts going my favour."

I read quite a few reports on his talent, and his only chance was show up to Australia and within 24 hours, face Brett Lee in the form of his life, and get yorked out. Then various different issues like injures, etc. Oh well, I hope he gets another chance to play for India in the near future.
Dinx - the Jinx Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 :adore: the master... he's not only a motivator for a lucky few who get a personal meeting with him.. he's been a motivation for millions of others.. who's not even playing cricket.. wen i was in engg college.. ad get frustrated with exams and papers.. sachin's slaying of aussies in sharjah and in chennai test used to lift the spirits and go for it.. aftr retirement.. i think sachin will play a big role in talent spotting and motivating youngsters to do well for india...

And no he's not a loser, many other good players have given similar credits to other players.

Whitgift is one of those rich ass English public school that has co much money they now host cricket matches as well. There were only a few hundred people there, mainly London based Indians or Windians. Where I was sitting there was about 14 people, and one of them was this old Indian ****. I say that, because he is the sort of fan who just ****ing whinges. He was talking about how the team was useless, how it was playing ****, how they should be attacking more, all that sort of crap to anyone who would listen. It was boring, repetitive and mostly ****en wrong. If the other end of the ground was open I would have carried my little plastic chair down there. Eventually we had Manoj Tiwary fielding down in front of us. He seemed like an ok guy to me, he told me who the bowler was after the announcer mumbled through it, signed autographs, and didn’t come across as a dick. But our friend, the ****, decided that he must still be a dick and said, “Why are you boys so poor, what is wrong with you?†Had I been Tiwary I might have been tempted to turn around and say, “Listen here you poor excuse for a cumstaim, what the **** have you ever done in your pathetic existence. Talk to me again and I’ll beat the hate out of youâ€. Tiwary didn’t say that. He said, “Actually we made 543, and some people think that is pretty goodâ€. I swear the guy didn’t even reply. For the first time this angry pissy bloke didn’t have a thing to say, he just sat there like a child who been schooled by a sarcastic teacher. It was great. I don' see the future generation of cricketers being nice with the fans and continue to take crap coming from those sitting outide the boundary line.
