Lurker Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Can i use the normal glucose which are used by sportsman to boost up .. or the normal ones that are available in pharmacy. You absolutely can use regular Glucose(the Dabur one works great). You can also buy bulk Glucose(or Dextrose or Maltodextrin or Waxy Maize) from your retailer. This should be available online at very cheap price. If you find nothing go for Sugar which is of course available everywhere. Just make sure you use it for only post workout drink. Since i work for Marine Co. i don't reside at a particular place for long , earlier i was in posted in ports of Egypt now i am here for few mnths in port sudan ... I get my full year supplements at one time from India or Singapore (my Office HQ) , UM and prolabs have distributer in India where i normally purchase 5 kgs of whey , 6 kgs of Amino , 2 kgs of creatine and I kg of Gutamine. Many online supplement companies ship globally. You can check some of these out. Vitaglo.com nutraplanet.com bulknutrition.net So long as you stick to the basics - Aminos, Whey, Carbs, Multivitamins etc - you are good. Be careful if you challenge the border a bit(say test boosters or fat burners) as some countries, specially Islamic and South East Asian countries are pretty stringent on those. One more important thing .. I always get confused to do Deadlift on leg days or back days ... i did for 6 mnths on my leg days as i had heard that even though more back movement is involved its works great for guteus. But later on i saw bodybuilding greats like Ronnie , Ruhl doing it on back days ... whats ur take on that... Good to see you are into deadlifts. In my opinion it is the single best exercise of them all. Nothing beats the primitive lifting of heavy weights off the ground. Probably my fav exercise. There are different versions of deadlifts. The regular one where you lift the barbell with your knees bent affects your entire back, specially spinal erectors. In this scenarion when you lower the bar it should travel further away from your shin. In the SLDL (stiff legged dead lift) your knees are locked and the bar travels towards your shin. This affects the hamstring and glutes lot more. But you are correct in that any version of deadlift will affect both back(upper and lower) and glutes. You can minimize one or the other by picking the right version. I personally prefer to do it with back(its my first exercise in the routine). Just make sure you dont overdo it. To get best result do it once every two weeks so your body is rested enough. You may also try lifting regular deadlifts on back day and go heavy for low reps(4-6) then drop the weights by half on leg day and do SLDL with high reps. Make sure you warm up your lower back before you do deadlifts anytime. xxx
DomainK Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 There is nothing better than yoga with a balanced diet. And make sure you go to a good instructor. There are many self proclaimed yoga experts who are actually good for nothing.
virufan Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Nice thread Lurker. Just what the doctor ordered :) Here is my profile: Age: 34 Height: 5' 7.5" Weight: 64 kgs People say I am normal and I don't have to gain any more weight. But I feel thin when compared to the world. I do not go to gym but do exercises at home. I start with dips then go on to dumbells for biceps and triceps. Then I do exercise for lats and then do baitaks for legs and crunches for stomach. I went to Yoga classes but do not find time to do it. Should yoga come before weights training or the other way round? What should be my diet like? Right now, I take 3 dosas or 3 Rotis or 5 idlies for Breakfast and a glass of milk. For lunch I have Rice and vegetables, Evening time I have fruits usually bananas or orange or grapes. For dinner, I have rice with sambar/rasam and vegetables and curd rice. Should the dinner be light like salad or this is fine? I have very little tummy and again people say this much is ok. But I want to make it flat and build my ab muscles. Give me some tips guyz..
mhr123 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Be careful if you challenge the border a bit(say test boosters or fat burners) Well i am still not into test boosters... may be i will wait for a year or so to see where am I . Good to see you are into deadlifts. In my opinion it is the single best exercise of them all. Nothing beats the primitive lifting of heavy weights off the ground. Probably my fav exercise. Make sure you warm up your lower back before you do deadlifts anytime. xxx Even its mine fav. excercise after Squats and lunges... I wait for the leg days to do Squats , heavy weights on shoulders feels really good , doing lunges behind the gym near the parking lot makes it even better and then the dead lift ( now i do it on my back days) . I do dead lifts at the end of the exercises (now my latest is 250 pounds) 4 reps , as i have nothing left after that .

Guest Gunner Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Lurker or anyone else, can you answer my qn? Do you smoke? How much caffeine do you take in?
triam Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Do you smoke? How much caffeine do you take in? Caffeine - 2 cups of coffee per day. Yes I do smoke (5-6) a day. is that the reason? My sports training is pretty intense (I train for national events in badminton, and I am currently ranked nationally too, just to make clear that it is pretty intense)

If you say that you smoke 5-6, its more likely to be 10 (I know as I am a smoker myself :winky:). Try to avoid smoking too many cigs after dinner and before you sleep. It used to affect me a lot. Then again there could be other psychological factors at play here which I am not aware of.

I imagine even when you sleep you are probably waking up several times in the night.
triam Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Yeah that's smoking. I imagine even when you sleep you are probably waking up several times in the night. But it only happens on the days I train. not other days, I sleep like a baby otherwise.

Guest Gunner Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 But it only happens on the days I train. not other days' date=' I sleep like a baby otherwise.[/quote'] Maybe you are taking supplements for your training which is adversely affecting you.
triam Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Maybe you are taking supplements for your training which is adversely affecting you. CricketGirl Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Lurker or anyone else, can you answer my qn? Triam i agree with G on this one its not the coffee its likely to be the ciggy's!! i train around 8-9ish at night too because of family commitments (getting junior fed, bathed put to bed etc!) but also it seems like whatever eating pre and post might be messing with your metabolism as well! here's what i do: Eat reasonable sized dinner around 6-7ish balanced with carbs protein and veggies/salad 8-10 i tend to be at the gym 10-30ish snack up again with a banana smoothie - the milk and banana will help u sleep or sometimes i use papaya specially on days that i do weights as its great for muscle repair and gets rid of aches maybe down a mug of chamomile tea if you still feel hot and jittery that should calm you down!! i dont actually smoke but i took ephedrine once and felt exactly the same!- oh boy never again!!
CricketGirl Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 No supplements, I was wondering if I take some supplements, if they would help me overcome this. Will try that today and see how it goes. i wouldnt reccommend suppliments!! they will make you feel worst! most of them are caffiene laden!!
