Sir john Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 nfuriated over the alleged rape of a nine-year-old girl by four persons at a railway guest house at Sadulpur town of Churu district, a mob set ablaze a railway station and outposts of the Government Railway Police and the Railway Protection Force late last night. The victim hails from Uttar Pradesh and had come along with her family to attend the annual Gogaji fair in the area. She was allegedly raped by four persons around 6 pm yesterday when she went to fetch drinking water from a tank at Sadulpur railway station. When the matter came to light, her brother, Sagar, headed to the RPF police post to lodge a complaint in this regard, but the RPF men reportedly declined to register a case and also beat him up. The incident enraged hundreds of other people from UP, who were waiting for their train at the railway station. They started raising slogans against the RPF and when RPF official Lalaram reached the spot, the angry mob pelted him with stones. The protesters set afire the police jeep and two motorbikes of the RPF men, forcing them to run away. They then ransacked the railway station and an RPF outpost, damaging railway property, including ceiling fans, benches, sheds, ticket window, rest house, station master's office and looted two revolvers and five rifles from a GRP outpost, demanding arrest of the accused involved in the rape. Extra forces were rushed to control the situation. The police has registered two separate cases. They have arrested two persons on the charge of raping the minor. They have been identified as Manoj Meena, an electrician with the railways, and his relative Jai Singh Meena. The manhunt for two other accused is on. The police has also arrested six persons for damaging the railway property. District SP Nisar Farooqi said the situation in the area is now under control. Meanwhile, the traders at Sadulpur town kept their shops closed today to lodge their protest against the incident. The victim, who is critical, was referred to a government hospital at the district headquarters today. A medical board conducted her medical examination there. Lakhs of pilgrims from Rajasthan and neighbouring states take part in the annual Gogaji fair in the area. Gogaji is a folk deity of Rajasthan.
