In the last odi game. Donald said that Smith must play in this warm up game to get some form. As he said this pitch for the india warm up game "was the flattest in the world" . One of the other comms said that was a big statement but Donald said he stood by it and that it was so flat it was ridiculous. Just to put in perspective Gangs and Crapthan's performances. It will very very diff pitch for test.

Re: Lets not get carried away. well, SA pitch always has something for new ball bowlers...the match report clearly mentions that pitch had some bounce.. once you survive new ball, its gets easier..

Nope. :hic: Seriously, I will be happy with a 40 from Ganguly. That's all I expect from him. He typically is involved in some decent partnerships and does enough in my opinion to warrant a place in the team, typically the last place.

Re: Lets not get carried away. Give credit where it?s due guys. There were other batters that have been in SA for over couple of weeks or three but could barely get to double figures. Here you have Ganguly that hasn't been on South African soil for years and he gets a good score. I know it's a bit early to be praising his batting but lest you can credit his effort. It would have been embarrassing total if he didn't chip in.

And mental fortitude is a quality I admire above all else. When everything you have ever learnt, ever worked for is lost, that one trait will keep you going, long after ordinary mortals have called it quits and opted for the comfort of home and hearth.

Re: Lets not get carried away. I also believe that Sachin's performance won't improve unless he is dropped. He needs to be angry. He is accorded far too much respect in all circles despite his failures. Does nothing for his motivation.

It's actually the other way around. Each and every low score by him is highlighted by everyone while others get free pass
