King Tendulkar Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 In the last odi game. Donald said that Smith must play in this warm up game to get some form. As he said this pitch for the india warm up game "was the flattest in the world" . One of the other comms said that was a big statement but Donald said he stood by it and that it was so flat it was ridiculous. Just to put in perspective Gangs and Crapthan's performances. It will very very diff pitch for test.
kabira Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. well, SA pitch always has something for new ball bowlers...the match report clearly mentions that pitch had some bounce.. once you survive new ball, its gets easier..
King Tendulkar Posted December 7, 2006 Author Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. It also puts in perspective our top orders failure :eew:
Dhondy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Was it not flat for the top five?
yoda Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Did anyone watch the game? I didn't.
DesiChap Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. It was not even on local TV no way to watch the game unless you are at the ground.
dhruvdeepak Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. is that why the RoSA team won the toss and bowled first, with 4 pacers, and kemp and then paul adams? because it is the flattest pitch in the world
observer1 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. my prediction: Ganguly scores single figures in first innings and a brave 30 in the second he will play the second test too, and score in the same range+/- 15.
yoda Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. my prediction: Ganguly scores single figures in first innings and a brave 30 in the second he will play the second test too, and score in the same range+/- 15. Somewhere I believe there will be a 39 score which will be hailed as the greatest innings since the 281.
Dhondy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Gets off the plane on a completely alien track and scores an 80 odd when the top order has floundered gutlessly to 69 for 5. Still no credit?
yoda Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Gets off the plane on a completely alien track and scores an 80 odd when the top order has floundered gutlessly to 69 for 5. Still no credit? Nope. :hic: Seriously, I will be happy with a 40 from Ganguly. That's all I expect from him. He typically is involved in some decent partnerships and does enough in my opinion to warrant a place in the team, typically the last place.
King Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Give credit where it?s due guys. There were other batters that have been in SA for over couple of weeks or three but could barely get to double figures. Here you have Ganguly that hasn't been on South African soil for years and he gets a good score. I know it's a bit early to be praising his batting but lest you can credit his effort. It would have been embarrassing total if he didn't chip in.
Dhondy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. It shows his mental strength to come in from the cold and score against all odds when his more illustrious colleagues have failed. And mental fortitude is a quality I admire above all else. When everything you have ever learnt, ever worked for is lost, that one trait will keep you going, long after ordinary mortals have called it quits and opted for the comfort of home and hearth.
Dhondy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. I also believe that Sachin's performance won't improve unless he is dropped. He needs to be angry. He is accorded far too much respect in all circles despite his failures. Does nothing for his motivation.
DesiChap Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. If Lara and Ponting raking up centuries and looking like overtaking his centuries record does no do enough to motivate him, nothing will. I am hoping for a Ponting/MOYO type of year from him in 2007
Anakin Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. I also believe that Sachin's performance won't improve unless he is dropped. He needs to be angry. He is accorded far too much respect in all circles despite his failures. Does nothing for his motivation. It's actually the other way around. Each and every low score by him is highlighted by everyone while others get free pass
Dhondy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Avi, prove to me that he still deserves a Test place on merit.
Anakin Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. He had two bad series coming back from injuries, big deal
Dhondy Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Last 10 Tests? Last 20 Tests excluding minnows? C'mon, post some stats!
Anakin Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Re: Lets not get carried away. Not good with stats but you're welcome to post them. Just wondering who would you rather have instead of him. Didn't you say he was overrated long before his lack of form?
