Desi Cartman Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I deleted pictures from the SD card without transferring to computer. I was able to recover all 150 pictures using different free softwares to recover data, the problem is that some of these files are coming as "invalid Image". Just wondering if there is any tool to fix the corrupted images for FREE ( I was able to find one but that adds a huge water mark across the picture) May God Bless you all !

The Dark Horse Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 There is a software - "search and recover" used for recovering files u deleted in the PC- not sure if the data in a SD card can be recovered.
Desi Cartman Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 There is a software - "search and recover" used for recovering files u deleted in the PC- not sure if the data in a SD card can be recovered. I have been able to recover the files and most of them are fine but some are coming up as invalid images. I can fix these using a software but its not free , so I am looking for a software to fix those corrupted images.
Nova Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Follow this: 1. Stop using the card immediately and don't take any more pics other wise the new files might overwrite the old ones. 2. Download Art Plus Digital Photo Recovery 4.1. I have uploaded the full program with license key here: http://www.mediafire.com/?wwb7mbb9b2jfbk6 3. Your memory card must be visible on the compute as "Logical Drive". Example - D: , E: , F: etc. If you are connecting the camera directly to your PC, then it won't recognize it as a logical drive. For this you would have to use a memory card reader. Your laptop probably has a inbuilt card reader already I assume? 4. - Run the above program (it's a executable file) and select "Restore photos directly from memory card" option. - Now select the drive letter assigned to your memory card from the drop down menu. - Select the type of files you want to recover ... like JPG, etc. and click "Start". - The program will start looking for all deleted files and this might take some time. It actually tries to recover not only the recently deleted files but also old files. Stop the searching in between if it's taking too long and you can preview the pics found so far in thumbnail format. - Click the "restore" button and it will ask you to buy the program. Now enter the license key. - Select the destination folder where your files will be restored. I have used this program and it works very well...was able to recover 100% of the pics in my memory card. Please report back and let me know if this worked for you. Good luck!
Desi Cartman Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 Thanks , will give it a go BTW do you know why a camera would have bright lines across the pictures. I bought this cheap Sanyo cam as a present for someone. A year later they informed me about the flaw but I cant return the camera now and was wondering what could be wrong with it. I will PM you a sample picture later.
Nova Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 ^ Horizontal banding is probably due to the image sensor. Get the camera serviced if under warranty. Also try another memory card...it could be read/write error but unlikely. If this does not work, tell them to buy another camera with their own money.

I am using the same SD card in my new camera and its working fine so I guess it has to sensor .. its not under warranty and was a cheap one anyway so doesnt matter ... Thanks for the software, it got the same number of pictures out & I still couldnt recover more than 75% pictures, we took too many pics so its not a big deal. Thanks heaps

After toiling for hours, I was able to completely fix the corrupted image which I could not even open initially (fixed file sent to you by PM). :yay: Tried various things and got success with PixRecovery. The recovered file will be in BMP format which is very large in size. You will have to convert it back to JPG format using IrfanView (free utility...google it). I have uploaded the full software and it is part of the Office Recovery suite. Install PixRecovery from the suite and use the serial included. Enjoy!
