These both innings were splitted and it was a day/night game so 20 overs both played in day and other 20 were played under floodlight. So that gave them the equity to both teams although tasmania won but they had to bat well in the second half as they lost 3 wkts in their 1st innigs and put up a total. So this game depends on the approach u give it if quensland didnt lost those 2 wkts in final 2 overs of their 1st innings they would have won this.

Interesting, so 1st innings was 20 overs and next innings is 25 overs. I actually like this format. Winning the toss will have least impact. The places like Lanka where chasing is difficult under light, this format will be great. Even in India, the dew plays huge role in the day nighters this will nullify that effect.

it was a 40 over match and it is a good time that limited over one day matches should be reduced to 40 over matches, not 50 which are way too long.

Aaah, true, :hatsoff::palty: though I still feels 40 is good enough, 2h40m per inning + 30 mins break - match finished in 6 hours

It will take a while before this one takes off. 25 overs a innings is better than 20 overs a innings. This can become really strategic. I think they should allow 5 max overs per bowler in each innings and if bowler takes wicket then he can bowl an extra over for every wicket. Should have powerplays in both the innings. This could be real fun.

What are the other changes other than the split innings? Assuming its 9 over max per bowler - Can they split anyway across 2 innings i.e 6-3, 5-4 etc? Can the batting/bowling power play be split across 2 innings?

well still only one team will be "chasing" under lights even though both will bat under lights, isn't that correct?

^no Lets say around 7PM, in normal ODIs, team starts to chase. The new ball moves around a lot in Dambulla. Now with split innings, team batting first will start their 2nd innings, if they don't start with new ball, the ball is already old, lets assume its new, the ball will move around. Now after 25 overs are bowled, team batting second will begin 2nd innings, new ball is taken and it still moves around. So both the team had similar conditions

I am not sure all these dramatic changes are needed in the 50 over game. Atleast not at the moment. If dew and other factors are such a concern, there's a simple solution for that--just play it during the day. Do we really need to tinker with the game every few years? How would this affect the past records? I suppose you can argue, the 50 over game has been evolving. Anyhow, the management should be looking at the state of pitches instead in my opinion.
