I think what he was trying to say is... If Mark Taylor claims I am past my best, then so is Sachin. LOL, it just shows what ponting thinks of Sachin, when he says SRT is not at his best, even after being at the receiving end of a MOS performance. :haha: Ponting is Sachin's biggest fan:hysterical:

Dont think so ... compare the 1st two pics and see for yourself the 1st pic is a capture from the 1998 video you posted. and the 2nd still is from the 175 he made against Aus a year ago. Absolutely no difference except that he is no longer lean and has a big arm guard. Watch the 3rd pic for a high back lift (now) and the 4th pic (as it is in 1998). What he likely meant was in fact a tribute to Tendulkar along the lines that, 'even someone as great as Tendulkar cannot play at optimal level all the time', and an opinion that he has that he has seen Tendulkar play better. Now, you may not agree with that opinion, but I certainly don't see any ulterior motives or cheap shots by Ponting.

I am sorry but if it is a measure of impact as a batsman between the two versions of Sachin, the 98 one wins every time. The 2010 one is more staid. Therefore more consistent. Which Sachin do you want? Pick and choose. Different people would rate these two Sachin's differently. But if it is impact you want, then it is the 98 one every single time.

Reasons : Tests : 214 , 203, 103* (PLus the 2 100s vs SAF recently) ODI's : 200*, 175, 163 All just jaw dropping inngs ... my personal favs are the 175 and 103* I have actually compared his older inngs to the newer ones ... shot by shot basis ... there is simply no difference. Its just that he doesnt look like a kid anymore. Agree with BossBhai here. Tendulkar now scores runs at same pace, instills more fear into the bowlers WITHOUT taking the amount of risks he used to as a youngster. Cricketers gain wisdom with age and their attitude changes, for Goddy, attitude is of a 20 year old but he has become waaaay more wise and experienced, so the innings we see are not so "flashy" and "visually-aggressive", but they fulfill the same (or recently better) purpose. I think that is why oppositions fear him more now.

Here we go again, producing a TEAM RESULT to prove that an INDIVIDUAL player is great. How does the result of one of the greatest team to ever play cricket prove that Ponting himself is one of the greatest batsman? Yes he is great but because his individual records show that he is a top batsman and not because his team was one of the greatest ones in history. They are two seperate things alltogether
