talksport Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 His selection ahead of the likes of Jaques, Chris Rogers and Marcus North is a surprise. Because he is from Western Australia and Martyn is from Western Australia... Quota System every where :hic:
DesiChap Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Re: Why Voges, Why not Jaques :lmao: :lmao: Got to do with replacing middle order bat with another middle order bat. That is the politically correct answer of course :hic:
Sooda Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Re: Why Voges, Why not Jaques Facked innit Aus should go 3-0 up then bring in Tate, Johnson, Haddin, Jacques, Rogers...and drop guys like Gilly, Hayden...
King Tendulkar Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Re: Why Voges, Why not Jaques Notice how they pick a finished cricketer at age of 27 to debut. Indian selectors take note and stop picking kids to play against men.
maatugaara Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Re: Why Voges, Why not Jaques who's voges?? who's jaques??
Mr. Wicket Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Re: Why Voges, Why not Jaques You obviously pay no attention to these things called form and performance. As big a fan of Jaques as I am, he's simply not been performing. His scores this season have been too hit-or-miss - a big ton in the first Shield game, then a lot of misses with the exceptions of the two tons in the one/three day warmups against a very underdone England team. Voges OTOH has been delivering and in a big way. Two big 150+ scores (and both unbeaten) show that after the immense promise and potential he showed in the last couple of seasons, he has finally learnt how to produce big innings and value his wicket, despite his tendencies to hit, and hit big. He stills mauls attacks, but does so now with brain and a lot more consistency. The f/c average is going to go up a lot in the next 5 years. He's a terrific pick. Watch out for the man. And take cover in the stands, if you're there. If he's at the MCG, I'll be sure to go in with a helmet, especially on the days when I'm sitting close.
