jusarrived Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 If Ishant was still bowling rubbish after 5 years in international cricket would you keep giving him chances? Then why with Sreesanth? The problem is I've yet to hear a SINGLE argument about why Sreesanth DESERVES to be in the side. like I said earlier , hes only played 19 test matches in that period ..clearly hes never had a consistent run in the team .On the other hand Ishant has been persisted since his debut ..the way I see it , Sharma has been far more disappointing . The problem I have is , you dont have a argument on why Ishant deserves to play ahead of Sree ?
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 I guess you did not watch him bowl on 1st Morning session. Yes I did. Did you watch the morning session today? While Zaheer was moving the ball BOTH ways by making clever use of the angles/around and over the wicket Sreesanth started off his spell bowling a delivery that went at least 3 feet wide on legside and almost broke Dhoni's finger. That's how wide it was. He followed that up by not even bowling the right line and he was promptely taken off with the ball still new when he got hammered for 12 runs in two overs. Ryder particularly loved his bowling and kept hitting boundaries of this clown. What makes his performance even more pathetic is that at the same time Zaheer was literally SHOWING him how to bowl by going over/around the wicket and maximising what little swing there was by using the angles most effectively to left/right handed batsmen. Except Sree couldn't even get his line/length right on the very basic delivery. It was literally like someone telling you the answers to an exam paper except Sreesanth was too stupid to understand. That's the kind of trash he bowled. Ryder especially ought to send him a fruit basket or something because most of his boundaries have come courtesy of Sree's crap bowling.
Ranjha Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 I believe Sreesanth bowled quite well on day 1. Day 2, he just got carried away and bowled quick cuz zaheer was getting wickets on the other hand and he got erratic.. He needs to check his emotions. He is no zaheer but should be given some more chances.
yoda Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 How about you grow a funny bone. I can't believe that this site has come down to not being able to understand basic infantile jokes. calling someone a donkey is your standard of being funny? anyways I glad some mod understood my point.

Kirsten/Prasad have routinely singled out Ishant as being one of the most hard working players in the team. While Donald was openly questioned Sree's work ethic, his habits, and Prasad also implied that. Also Ishant is a different type of bowler instead of swing one so he offers something different which is why he did so well in Australia and should be picked ahead of Sree in SA. Not to mention Ishant is ten times a better batsmen than Sree. Is more reliable because he's shown he can bowl through pain having taken cortesone injections while all Sree is good at is getting injured. I could go on. Sreesanth's attitude and theatrics, he gives away more boundaries, hasn't improved in 5 years while Ishant is still only learning his bowling, etc.

Yes, he has been inconsitent, but despite that he has bowled enough good bowls and beaten the bat enough number of times to show that he is a good enough bowling rhythm.
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 calling someone a donkey is your standard of being funny? anyways I glad some mod understood my point. Correction. "Dancing" Donkey! Look the donkey has the same right arm follow through and everything!! But you know what's even MORE funny? You guys getting upset that some people called Sree the dancing donkey when Sreesanth has been repeatedly fined for using abusive language and was given numerous warnings about his verbal abuse to other players!! Hyprocrite much?

If the standard is going by what some player did in some country years ago . . . . . then why not pick RP Singh who's ALWAYS done awesome in South Africa. Every time RP has bowled there and more recently just two years ago he was head and shoulders the better bowler than Sree. What's even more hilarious is that while RP Singh was DESTROYING teams with his ability to swing the ball both ways in the T20 World Cup in SA and then later in the IPL, Sreesanth WAS RIGHT THERE looking decidedly 2nd/3rd best to RP Singh's bowling. See how stupid it is to pick a player based on a tour almost 5 years ago?

ANother thing is whatever RP has done in SA has been in the shorter format. I would prefer to have a bowler who took 18 wickets in 3 tests on the last tour and to me looks to be in a good enough bowling rhythm (even though you will completely disagree). Do you seriously think RPS deserves to play ahead of Sreesanth in the SA tour?

At least your honest enough to admit it's about that. I'm more interested in seeing what bowlers give India the best possible chance to win and the dancing donkey isn't one of them.

So who would be your 3rd seamer in SA/Eng (assuming Zak and Ishant are the first 2)?
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 So who would be your 3rd seamer in SA/Eng (assuming Zak and Ishant are the first 2)? Depends on who's available. Irfan was injured recently. RP is stuck in neutral and Patel is painfully one dimensional. Sreesanth can't even pick up wickets against New Zealand with the new ball. At this point in time it's not really a choice but a burden.
yoda Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 But you know what's even MORE funny? You guys getting upset that some people called Sree the dancing donkey when Sreesanth has been repeatedly fined for using abusive language and was given numerous warnings about his verbal abuse to other players!! Hyprocrite much? yea we see Harby and co abusing others as MC and BC, so let's start abusing each other and the players the same way here on ICF. :cheer:
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 yea we see Harby and co abusing others as MC and BC' date=' so let's start abusing each other and the players the same way here on ICF. :cheer:[/quote'] When did I say it was okay to abuse each other on ICF? Point out where I said that, otherwise you're just making things up. The rest is pretty straight forward. Sreesanth has been warned/fined numerous times about abusing/sledging batsmen. Some people here call him a dancing donkey for obvious reasons as a joke and you get all high and mighty about it? Like someone else said here, if you can't take a joke then don't open the thread.
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 And finally, the last and maybe most important reason why this bowler is such a joke is that he's an absolute whipping boy against left handed batsmen. Ryder is a prime example. Sree looks lost against left handers and this is why no opposition is ever going to take Sreesanth seriously. Left handed batsmen are like kryptonite to the SuperDonkey! It's because of players like Sreesanth, India is disputed as the top ranked test side.
jusarrived Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Then you haven't been paying attention. Kirsten/Prasad have routinely singled out Ishant as being one of the most hard working players in the team still has done jack on the field While Donald was openly questioned Sree's work ethic, his habits, and Prasad also implied that. Prasad also said this "What a talent. He should be able to play at least 50 Tests. He has everything; good run-up, fantastic release. He just needs to run in, hit the length around off stump time and again. He just needs that discipline." Also Ishant is a different type of bowler instead of swing one so he offers something different which is why he did so well in Australia and should be picked ahead of Sree in SA. Sree is the only bowler who can swing both ways , only bowler who can bowl at 140ks ...so even he offers few things no other current bowler can . Ishant only showed a lot of promise , FYI he averaged 64 higher than Srees avg this series which you consider as a failure . Not to mention Ishant is ten times a better batsmen than Sree. Is more reliable because he's shown he can bowl through pain having taken cortesone injections while all Sree is good at is getting injured. batting irrelevant . I could go on. Sreesanth's attitude and theatrics, he gives away more boundaries, hasn't improved in 5 years while Ishant is still only learning his bowling, etc. are you serious ? Ishant has been known to leak runs ..if Sree hasn't improved , I have only seen Ishant regress s .
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 Sree is the only bowler who can swing both ways , only bowler who can bowl at 140ks ...so even he offers few things no other current bowler can . Sreesanth hasn't bowled consistently over 140ks since his stress fracture. What world are you living in? Prasad also said this "What a talent. He should be able to play at least 50 Tests. He has everything; good run-up, fantastic release. He just needs to run in, hit the length around off stump time and again. He just needs that discipline." So Prasad pretty much says what I've been saying for some time. And yes, Ishant has been out of form and bowling very poorly this year. This is the first time in his young career that he's been so out of form. Let's see how he responds. Hopefully Ishant won't STILL be in poor form for 3/4 years like Sreesanth has been. That's the difference!
yoda Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Like someone else said here, if you can't take a joke then don't open the thread. The abuse (no joke) was in the the thread title. Didn't need to open it to read the title. I opened only so I can get the title changed. Job done. Now Adios!
Fontaine Posted November 13, 2010 Author Posted November 13, 2010 The abuse (no joke) was in the the thread title. Didn't need to open it to read the title. And the title was changed right? Then why are you still here complaining/whining?
yoda Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 And the title was changed right? Then why are you still here complaining/whining? Title was changed in response to my post. You felt a compelling need to respond to my post, hence I returned the favor!
