Sreeshant versus Ishant

These are the two clear contenders for the second seamers position for India. It would be interesting to see how their career shape up relatively. There's little to seperate the two at the moment, both being equally dire for most part. Sreeshant had one inspired test against Sri Lanka since his comeback from injury. Nothing else to note. Ishant has been woeful in limited overs, but has managed a couple of good spells against the aussies. Probably both will play in SA and a direct comparison would be feasible. The conditions there should suit both of them with both seam movement as well as bounce on offer.

Given the fact that Zak looks likely to miss the 3rd test vs the kiwis, both will play in the 3rd test and then we will clearly get to know who is ahead!! As for SA, Zak, Ishant and Sreesanth are going to be the 3 first choice seamers if all are fit.

I just can't tolerate losers in a team that has so many great players that try their absolute best to win every match they play. Try to look at it from the point of view of SRT, or Lax etc. These guys will go into the South Africa tour knowing that this could be one of their greatest tours and while they're trying their absolute best, scoring centuries, performing under pressure, they'll have some childish, brainless idiot who can't even bowl three deliveries in a row on a consistent line/length. No matter how well these guys bat, they'll know the dancing donkey will be there to ruin it all. Other people may be fine, may accept that kind of weakeness and loser attitude. I don't.

This is the same guy who made a wonderful comeback to test cricket against SL in the home tests. His problem is he tries too hard. Sree thinks every ball he bowls, he should get a wicket. Don't judge him on the basis of his lunacies. He's the best swing/pace bowler apart from Zaheer. All he needs to do is be patient. Thats all.

Do you realise that but for him putting his body in line of fireand bat so courageously, we would have been looking down the barrel today? He just had a 10th wicket partnership of 100+ runs , obviously does mean he has got some sense. Yes as a bowler he has been on and off, but then barring Zaheer isn't that true for all of our bowlers? As for him being useless in SA, only time will tell. But given the fact that he had 18 wickets in 3 tests last time he played there, I am hopefuly he can repeat it again and help us do well there.

Pace? Since his stress fracture he barely registers over 140. He barely gets regulare swing movement any more. This guy is pretty much done. Injuries and constant bowling stupidity have taken away any talent he ever had.

Sreesanth is a bundle of talent. He has been a little too impulsive so far, but I see this last innings of him as a proof of maturity and commitment. He can be very effective for India in test matches abroad. I dont dislike Ishant either. We should give them good pitches more often.

Ishant also played with Lax to win a test match. What's your point? That we should start picking bowlers on the occasional good innings they have with the bat? :hysterical:

You can hope all you want. The reality is different. The team, Kirsten, and selectors can either: 1. Starting praying and hoping that somehow, magically, mysteriously, She-santh can all of a sudden be a consistent wicket taker against some of the best batsmen in the world in their own back yard, or, 2. Go with a real plan. You know, the kind that these people are paid to come up with.

Not really. Zaheer only really had issues with his fitness and was consequently dropped for the first time and as soon as he was recalled back to side the in 2006 has been extremely professional. Sree not only has issues with fitness, but his attitude, work ethic, practice habits and has been dropped repeatedly in all formats and has YET to perform consistently. There is no comparison. There is no other bowler in the world today that has produced so little, has been so inconsistent and wasteful and yet still is given another chance.

No. Before this series started I said this was his last chance as far as I was concerned. So far he's done absolutely nothing. The guy is damaged goods. He's finished. He may get the odd 3/4 wickets once in a while but for the most part he's a nothing bowler.

Zaheer has had his 'whacked out bowling machine' days as well..spraying the ball everywhere...He has turned it around mostly during the last couple of years.. Give Sreesanth some time, he is one of the best we've got and we should back him
