They even ban tv coverage in place were game is held in desperate attempt to boost attendances -------- Again, another LIE. This is done ONLY in the city where the test is played and that ONLY happens when the day is not sold out. Its done to encourage people to come to the stadiums and enjoy the experience, which I can tell you is a x10000000000000000 better than watching it on the idiot box.

If this is true then its absolutely horrible. Why should those people who don't want to go to the stadium or can't go for any reason be deprived of the opportunity to watch it on TV.

You're missing the point. The whole point is to ENCOURAGE people to come to the ground. If you can watch it on TV, whats the point of going to the ground in the first place. Thats the problem right ? --- Nobody comes to the ground, people just watch it from home. And if they can't make it to the ground, they always have the option of following it on radio.

Well, since you made that accusation, its your responsibility to back that up with some solid evidence -- Solid facts and numbers that show a decline in test match numbers from year to year would be a positive start. You had no such evidence. You made some completely BS claims. When asked to substantiate those claims, you couldn't. In other words, you FAIL.

No decline year to year. Always have had patches of half full stadiums. At least when India starts to bat the ground packs full. Not nonsense claims. And yes have no stats apart from 5000 at gabba for sl game. but the thing is that a stadium can only accommodate 60000-70000 even at full capacity - what about the rest of the people in the city who want to see the matches?

So far the Brisbane test has been near sold out for the past 3 days, and it will most likely continue. People in Australia dont give a crap of how good or bad a team is to go watch matches. Its just about hype, history and build up leading into these matches. And also the fact that lot of tourists come from England to watch these games. For them it is like the olden day Ind vs Pak rivalry. Thats why Ashes is almost like a marketing scheme more then a cricketing contest these days. Just like the IPL. But crowds will always be there in Oz during summer season because cricket is the main sport during summer.

We already seen a hat-trick on day 1, england fightback on day 2 and a great partnership under very difficult circumstances on day 3. Everyday the other team got their noses ahead. Exactly, all the promoters are cashing in on the recent success of England in the Ashes Series. Before 05 ashes win, England hadnt won it for 15 fecking yrs :finger: Where was the great contests between these two "stalwarts" then? :giggle:

05 series was the only ashes series that is worth mentioning as one of the best series in the last decade. The 08 tour of Oz by india was pretty eventful........tests series was a drama and to top it off with a series win in the ODI series. SA vs Oz sereis were pretty good too, but ashes series in general are overhyped these days especially with the current brittle aussie lineup, and ever choking english team that could easly put the aussies out of their misery if they really tried.
