cricinfo....go to the full scoreboard for any match and at the bottom of the page there is a coloum Day1, day2, day3 etc... in that the salient features of that day are given and there the attendance for the day is also given. I took the trouble of going through records of all tests played in Aus over the last 2 years only to prove that Idiot sree_india wrong.

Day 5 was pathetic attendance!

Can you tell me for what reason a fan would go watch the match on Day 5, after England batted and dominated the whole day with only losing 1wicket in which the match was being poised for a draw? This is excluding the fact it is a Monday, where the working week starts.

But Ashes being so hyped up and people talking about it as being the savior of test cricket and what not, considering that much hype, the stadiums should've been completely full for at least the first 4 days. Nobody here is trying to ridicule the Aussie audience or anything like that, its just that if attendance is poor then accept it. Simple as that.

Yes, they should be. India is a cricket centric nation and cant fill its own stadium. Who are they to tell other countries that have completely different dynamics and structure to say that theirs isnt any better? With such a large population in India you would at least fill half the stadium on most of the days in a test match? But its even worse then that. And the recent "decline" can easily connected to types of opposition they have playing lately. Pakiodi :giggle:, NZ and WI :cantstop: Yea people will come to watch so Australia steam roll them everyday of the week. South Africa is probably an exception, but Australia was still dominant enough.

Its over hyped because its marketed and advertised. Just like in India where you blasted with ads 24/7 about India "domination", "revenge" series against various opposition. Other then ashes you have zero, zilch, none advertising or promotion of any cricket in Australia.

Take out the barmy army first. Then also you act as if people from other areas cant go and watch it. Also they banned tv coverage in area so they had no choice if they wanted to watch it. They should build 15,000 seater stadiums and leave the 90,000 seaters to countriies that can fill it like eden gardens in India.

er.. the Barmy Army are not inhabitants of Brisbane. There is a pointless debate based on ego going on here. India has had it share of poor attendances and was called such attendances are killing test cricket. Nobody then delved into reasons as to why there were poor attendances. Cost of tickets compared to average wages, distance of stadia from the city, working week , poor stadia conditions et all were factors. The point KT is making is that it is hypocrisy to not accept that what is billed as the most important series for teh Aussies & English, more important than the World cup some say, did not have full houses for all day. Ian Botham on sky as Third Man on the last day was pretty much playing spot the aussies on the 5th day. All reasons given by IKU & Sree_india about the test heading for a borefest, working day, poor opposition et all accepted, but that doesnt change the fact that half the stadium was empty. Why be critical of India when the stadiums are empty when it is true world over including Australia?
