I believe i am talking reasonably here. I don't understand how i can calm down more..ok, now imagine i am whispering and talking really slowly. What you don't understand is reasoning. Gul has been a good bowler in T20, but he is neither the best nor are the others better than him by a big margin. There are probably about 20 other bowlers who are just as good as him in this format. Same goes for bigger names like Ponting, Clarke etc. So a few players missing will not reduce the quality of the entire tournament because a Gul or Ponting can be replaced by someone who does just as well as them on an average. Even if 10% of the top 100 players are not playing and the player pool stands something like the top 400 players out of the worlds top 450 players, it is just as competitive if everyone plays. Basically, its the best domestic league in cricket. It obviously doesnt compare with international standards, but it is not trying to. Like i said, a few pak players will definitely be in the 1st 11 of a lot of teams, but considering in the 1st IPL and the recent match fixing saga, for ever good thing that comes from Pak players, there a 3 bad things coming from them. Tanvir and a few others were good in the 1st IPL. Then Aktar and Asif are caught on steroids. Afridi starts attacking his captain when he himself was a complete failure. Next year, pak players start blackmailing IPL. A year later, tanvir says despicable things about India on national TV and butt goes on a rampage of verbal abuse on BCCI. Then the recent news that 7 players out of 11 players are involved in match fixing. Is this drama really necessary for IPL which has its won share of drama and corruption? Ok..Pak players did say something about the IPL on the national TV because they were NOT paid on time by the IPL during the first season...and then u drop them in the second edition..obvioulsy they are gonna say something... and 7 out of 11 ppl being in matchfixing...the case is still going on ... and those 7 players are not even playing in the current pak lineup...the way I c it, its political...nothing to do with circket at all....my opinion

Sports has always been more or less dependent on the political climate. There has been numerous boycotts by teams in bad standing with the host country. A hockey game between USA and USSR during cold war was almost as tense as any sports event could be. Even in cricket, Eng has boycotted Zim. Just because pak is on the receiving side, it doesnt make sports and politics mutually exclusive. I was in US when 9/11 happened and flew to NY 2 months later. I have seen first hand how brown people were treated before and after. You are ignorant to think that 9/11 affected only muslim browns. Pak player did not say something about IPL. PCB keen to send players to India for IPL 4

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board is willing to provide all documents and clearance of its players if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decides to allow its cricketers to take part in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League. A senior official of the PCB Subhan told at a press conference on Saturday that the Board was interested in sending its players for the IPL 2011 to India. "We are keen on this and if the Indian board requires us to provide any clearance or NOC for any player we will do it," Subhan said. He added that the PCB had already written to the BCCI on the issue last week and were awaiting a reply from them. The issue of Pakistani players taking part in the lucrative T20 league that attracts players from all cricketing nations has been a contentious issue since the terror attacks in Mumbai in November 2008. Pakistani players have not been able to take part in the last two editions of the IPL despite efforts made by the PCB. In the inaugural edition in 2008 over a dozen Pakistani players played for different franchises and Sohail Tanvir was adjudged best bowler of the tournament. In 2009, the PCB and government itself didn't give clearance to any player to play in the IPL and early this year the IPL franchises didn't bid for any Pakistani cricketer at the players' auction, although the PCB had sent names of around 10 players after giving them clearance. This led to exchange of words between the two countries. Subhan said that the IPL was a major event and it was essential for Pakistani players to take part in it. "We want them to be part of this league but in the end it all depends on what policy the Indian board adopts in allowing our players in the IPL," he said. "On our part we can only write to them and ask them to consider our players. So far we have not heard anything from them on the IPL issue," he said. Asked about reports that rookie pacer Mohammad Irfan had been signed on by Kolkata Knight Riders directly, Subhan clarified that no player could directly sign with any franchise. "The rules have changed in the IPL and now no franchise can either sign on a player directly neither can any player approach any franchise unless he has got NOC from both boards," Subhan stated. He also said this was why the PCB had written to the Indian board to find out the current situation before the players auction takes place. Since the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the Indian government has not encouraged bilateral cricket ties with Pakistan although the PCB has been keen to play a series against India even at neutral venues.

Jeff Lawson to coach Kochi IPL team

Kochi: Former Australian pace bowler Jeff Lawson has been appointed as the coach of Kochi IPL team, according to sources from the official circles of the Kochi IPL team. A deal has been struck with Jeff Lawson in this regard, it has been said. It was earlier reported that former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh would become the coach of the Koch team. However, Steve Waugh is said to have suggested the name of Jeff Lawson for the post of Kochi team's coach. With this, the number of Australian coaches with IPL teams has risen to seven.
