Gambo now averages 40+

With the two back to back not out centuries against Kiwis, Gambo has crossed the average of 40 mark. I don't know if it's the right time for him to peak just yet but whatever is happening is awesome:yay: Hopefully he will retain his form for the World Cup:eyedance:

After the lull early this year, Gambhir is going to enter a phase where he will become the best batsman in both forms of the game once again in the next 12-18 months and then continue to hold that for years. The last two knocks have been phenomenal and the way he has made the Kiwiattack look schoolboyish has been amazing. Ominous signs. Hope he continues to pile on the runs for as long as he can.

Before his purple patch started in 2008 GG had massive success on the domestic scene averaging well in the high 50's. Now he is reaping the rewards of that hard work and coming through the ranks while a Kaif and to an extent Yuvraj that never did the hard yards at the domestic level working on their game will never excel at the Test level nor will they get a chance in all probability and rightly so since their are much better options to play the real form of the game. Coming back to GG it is not a surprise he is just taken his game to a whole new level in the last 3 years or so. He also quietly worked his way up to being the 2nd choice to lead behind MSD putting himself ahead of the spoiled brats such as HS or YS. Could not have happened to a more deserving guy. Another guy who looks like a prototype of a GG is Pujara. He appears very business like in his approach no nonsense kind of a guy not letting the big stage get the better of him. Of all the young players some of whom got a head start in the 50 over and 20-20 variety Pujara will be the next big thing in Test cricket having already done his time on the FC scene. When the dust settles down he will emerge as the clear cut choice in Tests to replace and take the mantle from the likes of a VVS or a SRT or a RD in Tests.

first you should get out of Dravid's ass and Gambhir himself has said in one of his interview that backing of his captain has helped him succeed at intl. level

Like for VVS 1999-00 season was the turning point when he scored some 7-8 100s in domestic crciekt and never looked back afterwards, for Gambhir the 2007-08 season was the turning point. He led Delhi to the title and scored 6-7 100s in the season and including 100s in tough chases in the 2nd innings of the semifinal and final. Perhaps therein lies the message for the selectors. Dont rush through any youngster after a season or two of doing well in domestic cricket (or IPL). Let him do well for 3-4 seasons and he will be better prepared for international cricket and its challenges.

If one remembers the 2005/2006 Test series versus England the duo of RD/GC had the audacity to bench VVS in the name of playing 5 batsman and worse playing YS as a Test batsman ahead of VVS in 2 Tests. VVS being the nice guy he is and a great team man swallowed the bitter pill and never let his disappointment known. Without a doubt GC is a man who had his favorites and he surely manipulated RD. Some of the team selections in that point in time clearly proves that.
