VRV Singh Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 How would you rank ours (talking 50 over cricket here). We seemingly have a relatively large number of batsmen available to get through a few overs compared to other teams...I feel it's a relevant discussion given most believe we will go with four specialist bowlers in the WC hence the need for them to perform it Yuvraj, Sehwag, Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Rohit Sharma and at a stretch Kohli all offer an option of some sort, obviously with varying success. Out of these who do you see as the main one or two carrying the mantle, the most reliable for MSD to turn to when we need a breakthrough/put the brakes on?
daryl1985 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Yuvraj Sehwag YP Sharma Raina Kohli (i thought he was a medium pacer0
Sachin=GOD Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 Yuvraj Sehwag YP Sharma Raina Kohli (i thought he was a medium pacer0 :dito: and if need be then Goddy may also bowl in the World Cup.
spectre Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 For the WC, I would restrict it to Yuvraj, Raina and Yusuf (if he plays) Sehwag and Sachin havent bowled in ODIs for ages now, and it certainly wouldnt be worth risking Ashwin will be the main spinner

spectre Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 what about Bhajji ? He should not be in the first XI He has now become more of a containing bowler by firing darts. A yusuf pathan does that better in T20s Ashwin on the other hand is not a great spinner, but is certainly capable of bowling in PPs and also pickup wickets. If giving a lengthy run and the confidence in ODIs, he would turn out as the trump card for WC, just like he did for CSK. He outbowled Murali on most occasions. You would need your main spinner to pickup wickets in ODIs not just containing

At the moment he is India's best spinner (Bhaji included) BUT i can't see him starting unless: They drop Bhaji (never going to happen) Play him at number 7 (probably not going to happen either) Or the selectors go in with a 2 spinners and 2 pacer's (also not going to happen)
