The woman, Anju (20), had been missing from home in Kochi since December 18 and her family claimed they are unaware how she reached Delhi. The relationship between Anju and a sales executive from Kannur soured after the man came to know that the photograph Anju had posted on her Orkut profile was, in fact, those of her friend. Anju, a native of Vennala in Kochi, was found hanging in one of the rooms of a working women's hostel under the jurisdiction of the Parliament Street police station. The body was flown back to Kochi and cremated on Wednesday. Udayakumar, Anju's father who works as an auto-driver, said his daughter had gone out on December 18 to reportedly attend a college exam and did not return home. A missing case was filed at the Hill Palace police station in Kochi. Later, while going through Anju's bag, her family got to know of the affair. They also found a note that indicated her intention of committing suicide. "I am going to the bed of the Arabian Sea, good bye," it read. When the police tracked down the man in Kannur, he reportedly told them he and Anju had had a fight over her Orkut photos two months ago. According to Hill Palace circle inspector Biju Stephen, they have come across several email conversations that indicate Anju wanted to end the relationship. She seemed to have regretted using the fake photo and had even apologised to the man for this, the police said. While police said the lovers had never met, Udayakumar claimed, "Anju had the youth's photos. If they had never met, how did his photos reach her?" The father said he did not know how Anju reached Delhi, but the police claim witnesses had seen her at the Ernakulam railway station. Stephen said a day before her death, Anju had sent a mail to the youth expressing regret. But, by the time the Kerala Police identified the IP address of the mail and located her in Delhi, she had committed suicide. Udayakumar, meanwhile, said Anju's death was a mystery and plans to file a complaint with the Kochi police. "My daughter was trapped by the youth. The 24-year-old, C Natarajan, threw himself before a speeding train near Podanur station and committed suicide on Tuesday. His body was kept at the government general hospital mortuary for two days as it could not be identified. "On Thursday, his father saw the body and he confirmed that the deceased was his son" said Podanur railway police sub-inspector G Anandhanayagi. During the interrogation, his father revealed that he was not aware of his son's phone romance. Just before he flung himself on the tracks, Natarajan wrote a note in his diary asking his friends not to inform the girl about his suicide. A marketing executive, Natarajan received a wrong call from a girl about six months ago. But he wanted to speak with her again and began a telephonic romance. Later, they decided to get married and planned to meet before fixing the wedding date. However, their first date was disastrous as Natarajan was expecting a beautiful girl, but instead she was homely. After the meeting, he received several calls from the girl asking him to set the wedding date. But Natarajan no longer wished to marry her. He then made her consume about 50 sleeping pills in a hotel room here on Monday, but he himself had only a few. The woman died while he is admitted in a semi-conscious state at a local hospital, the police said. Manoj, a resident of the Mandoli area of east Delhi, took Seema, 20, to Hotel Pelican here on Monday afternoon. "In his confession, Manoj told us that Seema had ditched him in the past, hence he planned to kill her. He arranged for the sleeping pills and assured her that he would consume as many pills as she did. While Seema had around 50 pills, Manoj had just a few," said circle officer Praveen Ranjan Singh. After making Seema consume the tablets, Manoj SMSed his relatives that they had committed suicide. His family members immediately informed the police, who rushed to the hotel room and found Seema lying unconscious on the bed, while Manoj was in a semi-conscious state. The two were rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced Seema brought dead.Manoj is undergoing treatment. "Manoj is a supervisor with a dials manufacturing company in Delhi. Seema was his long-time friend," Singh said.
