gaurav92 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Its time jokers like Ishant are kept out and bowler like PK is given a chance atleast he has some skills we need to bring back nehra or rp singh in test I don't think RP or even PK has done anything to earn a Test Spot.Although PK has been a consistent bowler for us, in ODIs, I doubt for same performance in Tests, he is well down on pace, and doesn't have the ability to reverse, or bowl a good comeback spell. His only strength is new ball when the ball swings. On the other hand RP Singh has been very average in Domestic Circuit, he has lost his zip and it looks more like a forced run up, he has got his fair share of injuries of course. The only option that I can think of is Munaf Patel, or a Mithun, which again brings me back to a point where "These is no better and therefore continued when we play 3 seamers".But Munaf deserves a chance in the ODIs though, has been good in Domestic Season this year. So what is your take on Ishant being continued ? I know he had a terrible game, but yes its part of the game, you have good games and along with that you have bad ones too.I think he has to re-emphasize on his run up, his wrist position while releasing, and also get a spring in his stride.
Andy Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Gaurav- In this conditions anyday i would prefer PK over Garbage Ishant. Dont want RP though.
Bumper Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Nehra is a very good bowler but he has been open in the past about not wanting to play tests. If we make him play tests, we may lose him as a ODI bowler, as Nehra will break down pretty quickly. I have no idea about PK. I have seen him to be a effective swing bowler in ODIs. I am not sure about his fitness to be a good test bowler. RP Singh, if he is in good form, is worth a recall. We should get him ready for the England tour.

May I ask you now Are you Serious? How many terrible games will he have? and have you ever checked PK'S domestic stats ,averages 23 with the ball and can swing it both ways, anyday better than Ishant
Watson87 Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Do you need to create a thread just for that, we could have discussed this on the match thread.

saneindian Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 PK will offer us the control which we so dearly need from the 3rd seamer in better bowling conditions. Does bowl well to his field and can bowl longer spells. So offers the captain a choice if he needs to slow down the game a bit and control the flow of runs. In fact, I would stick my neck out and say that PK will do better in tests than in ODIs. RPS is still some months and (minus 6-7 kgs) away from being ready for international cricket.
