kabira Posted January 19, 2011 Author Posted January 19, 2011 Nothing to try. WIn the damn ODI series now. This is a golden chance for us. Our young team winning a ODI series vs SA in SA would be the biggest morale booster before the WC. We tried so many things before the 2007 WC (Gambhir, Uthappa as openers/no 3, Sachin at 4, mixing our spinners etc) in those series vs SL and WI and then came a cropper in the WC as players were clueless about their roles. This time keep the things that have been working as they are, win the ODI series, take a rest of 2 weeks and then have a 5 day prep camp before the WC practice matches and we should be ready to go. One change that is needed is to replace Vijay with PaPa. morale booster my @ss. WC will be decided on those who play 3 great games. Q/F, S/F and Final. Winning series in SA or even losing it 5-0 would not have mattered. We still have grey areas in our team. We suck in death overs, we suck in middle overs if wicket is absolute patta, we need to find spinner who can take wicket there. We saw how wickets can reduce the target, thats why we need to try Ashwin.
spectre Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 ^ how winning a series in SA does not matter. Have we won there before or have even won 2 ODI games in a SA tour.
Zelig Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Winning an ODI series in SA is important. We can worry about the world cup later. Play our best team in the next match and if we win, then think about giving chances to rest of the squad in the final game :dontknow:

And how exactly trying things that we would be doing in the WC in conditions completely oppositie to the SC is going to help? To experiment, we will have 2 practice matches and the entire prelim round. Let us win this ODI series first despite morale booster being an @ss.
kabira Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 ^I never said about not going for a win. Aren't we alrady experimenting. The players like Rohit and Vijay will not even feature in the WC. How about experimenting bit more, like trying Bhajji in Powerplay (infact we already did that in last game LOL)
Jersey #10 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 1. so let's say, if one of our batsmen get out in the power play and Bhajji walks out. Now if Bhajji gets out in the power play and then Zak walks out. And then we are left with the likes of Dhoni, UV, Raina , YP coming in as our tail at number 7,8,9,10 see this is the problem when someone who does not understand cricket come to cricket forum...if bhajji gets out, then next specialist batter comes in. 2. What bakwaas idea? Now you want the best opener in the world to play in the middle order? are you out of your mind? He is best opener in ODI?? He will be more useful in middle overs. Gambhir and Tendulkar are our best openers, both can play long innings. 3. I think Bhajji and our pacers are doing well in the power plays and death. Ashwin is wayyyy too inexperience to bowl at death. People need to stop making a big deal out some new guys like Ashwin and Pujara. Some people treat them as legends (remember legendary Nohit?) Again, you don't understand cricket...title said it, need to try it. Ashwin has done well in powerplay overs. If this was a court case, you would have lost it with such poor defense. Girly girl got offended huh? :girly1:
kabira Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 ^LOL, I think you have nothing else to say thats why you came up with above statement.
