Who are you fooling? No one misses anyone because of team results no matter how much one claims. Even if team India lost each and every match from now one' date= you would still defend Dhoni and bring him in every post
the lankans and the aussies must miss murli, warne, mcgracth coz they were damn good human beings. :hysterical:

I think you misunderstood my post. Of course they miss players of that calibre, but if tomorrow Aus has players who are even better than these guys would the fans forget the entertainement and the moments these players provided? So in a way its not the results which fans miss but each precious moment these guys have created for us to enjoy. If it was only results for one's country which counted, no players would have fans from any other countries! I miss Warne, Murali and McGrath too but does that have anything to do with them winning matches for India?

Nope, I think you didnt write it well at all. Steve waugh would be remembered as great captain and a fighter by the aussies who, more often than not , took them across the line, won them the WC, captained them to 16 consecutive test matches. Same way, if dhoni continues his performance through major part of his career, he would be remembered as a great captain and a fighter with the bat who won india a world cup, and captained india to Number 1 in test cricket for many years. Even in sachins case, You take out the match winning knocks out of his career and the respect for him will go down considerably.

I think we are talking about two different things. I have great respect for Kapil and Sunil because of all that they achieved for India and thats how most of the current generation views them. Same for Bradman. but I was never a fan of them because they were before my time and I couldnt emotionaly attach myself to them. So I would not say I miss them The thread title is talking about a fan's emotional view of a player they grew up watching and not about posterity or the cricketing view I will give you another example. Vishwanath Anand brought more glory and titles to India than Dhoni but are you a bigger fan of him than Dhoni? why not?

Both Dhoni n Sachin are frm my time. And I am bigger fan of Dhoni than sachin.

In that case, the Opening post shouldnt have talked abt his achievement.

I respect both Anand and RD Burman probably more than Dhoni. And I cant make out I am a bigger fan of whom frm the two.:P But why would such things be relevant on a cricket forum??

Ask Australians if they would like to have another Bradman like batsman, and obviously 101% would answer with a "Yes" Indians of current age might not like somone like Sachin, bc of his long outstanding career and all the moments they a have cherished b/c of him, but the future generation would certainly love to have another Sachin.
