Dhoni said that conditions would play a predominant role in deciding the starting eleven for each World Cup contest, while interacting with the media here at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium on Tuesday. “The selection mainly depends on the conditions, what kind of wickets are provided and how we read the pitch. It is really good for the side that everyone is shaping well for the tournament,†said Dhoni. Looking ahead to India's World Cup opener against Bangladesh in Mirpur, Dhoni felt that he would asses the dew factor before finalising the team. “We will have to see if there is dew on the outfield. “The last time we toured Bangladesh, it was around January and there was a lot of dew, and now we are close to the end of February. Still we need to see if there is dew and pick the best eleven accordingly,†he said. Fight for places Going by India's recent line-ups, it would seem that Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh will have to fight it out for two middle order slots, while conditions that encourage turn would see either Piyush Chawla or R. Ashwin join Harbhajan Singh. The practice match against Australia did not resolve either issue one way or the other, but Dhoni said that it was not something that distracted him. “Most of the players are doing well which means that for the one or two slots we are talking about we have more than one or two contenders trying to grab them, which is really good for the side. “This means we have more options and more the options, the better it is,†said the Indian captain. Zaheer is fine Dhoni also allayed fears regarding the fitness of Zaheer Khan, saying that the fast bowler suffered from ‘a very, very mild groin strain' and that he was a certainty for India's match against Bangladesh on February 19. “It (the strain) is nothing to worry about. It is just that we can give him an opportunity to rest (during the practice matches) and that is the reason we are providing it. “He will feature in the first game that we play on the 19th,†said Dhoni. True to word, Zaheer walked out to the nets soon after the press conference, but in his batting gear, cheerfully cross-batting a few throw downs.

It doesnt only depends on the track,it also depends on the opposition,we have to play with 2 spinners against SA,ENG or AUS
