Over Reaction

@OP Nope, not an over-reaction. You are bound to get such kind of reactions after such kind of performances. I mean India were cruising at 267/1 in 40 overs and was bowled out for 296!!! Such backlash is expected after such a melt-down and then you move on and see what can be done to improve. As you can see most of the threads today are focused on the next game and what needs to be done to improve for the knockouts. As for me, I am disappointed at such a collapse but not gutted, especially if we beat Windies and end up 2nd team in our group, and kiwis are the 3rd team in group A  That would make it a Ind Vs NZ quarter final for us  True, it doesn't mean that we will definitely be able to beat kiwis and reach semis but if I were to pick one of Aus, SL, Pak, NZ in a knockout game my preference would be in the following order - NZ, Pak, SL, Aus. If we are able to improve our performances and learn from our mistakes from this game, this game could be a blessing in disguise for us. One good thing for India is that they have been way off their peak performance and still stretched Eng and SA all the way. Hopefully we peak at the right team and then India could be a very very tough team to beat indeed.

You guys are still through into quarters You have the best batting line up Would you prefer that you won all group games and lost in quarters? Peak at the right time, these losses show Indian management what they are doing wrong and they will be ready for the Knock out stage. I would rest Zak as if he gets injured then you guys are totally screwed. Give Harby a break, he needs to feel hungary for wickets, his place is guranteed. Give Yusuf Pathan time to build an innings, he cant come in and smash everything I still think Inda have a great chance to win WC
Your optimism really is a breath of fresh air :) but the reason why people are so frustrated with our team is because of Dhoni's captaincy. Dhoni has made some VERY questionable decisions throughout this WC, and our match against SA really put a huge brick wall in our efforts to overcome our shortcomings. Many people are thrashing Nehra and Pathan without realizing that it wasn't their fault we lost, but our captain's. Yusuf has always been a finisher, and Kohli has always been an innings builder. Even when we lost Sachin's and Gambhir's wickets in quick succession, Dhoni didn't have the common sense to send in Kohli in his rightful spot; he ended up putting Yusuf in to bat at a time when we needed our innings to get stabilised, not more vulnerable. In the process, Kohli got all the pressure to play big shots, which is really not the role he's meant to play in our team. Sending Nehra in to bowl in the death over was also the captain's fault. We can't blame Nehra for the loss, hell, even Morne Morkel was far more expensive in this match. Everybody has moaned and groaned about Dhoni's inability to read crunch situations and make timely decisions so that we can have an upper hand, and rightfully so. In the IPL, Dhoni leaves no stone unturned in utilising his team's best spinners, but when it comes to the country rather than a corporate team, Dhoni seems to be more hell bent on making rash choices rather than thinking sensibly. The fact is that our batsmen lost us the match, but so did our captain. He has absolutely no right to lambast our players when he himself is turning out to be a horrible captain so far in this WC.

well its funny to think Dhoni is the one sitting in his ivory tower making all the decisions and crushing everyone else's logic and opinions. I am sure the decision to send Yusuf up the order was taking by the management and had it worked and him got a quickfire 50, it would have been hailed as a masterstroke. The fact of the matter is the players f***ed up and they should all(including Dhoni) take responsibility and play better.
