You guys are still through into quarters You have the best batting line up Would you prefer that you won all group games and lost in quarters? Peak at the right time, these losses show Indian management what they are doing wrong and they will be ready for the Knock out stage. I would rest Zak as if he gets injured then you guys are totally screwed. Give Harby a break, he needs to feel hungary for wickets, his place is guranteed. Give Yusuf Pathan time to build an innings, he cant come in and smash everything I still think Inda have a great chance to win WC

In the end it is just a game of cricket, a sport, entertaiment for folks that have free time like us :winky: Putting things into perspective, just look at the Japan earthquake or Tsunami. There are far more serious issues people are facing. Sure cricket is good and all that but there's a limit to what you can expect from a sporting team. If they did give 100% and the result don't go their way then whatever the result you take it. If India's bowling is not good enough, it is not good enough. There's no hiding the fact. Just hope the batters put in huge scores and in the process they lose then take it sporting I'd say. This applies to 3 teams in particular, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. I reckon supporters from these three teams are the most emotional and their life goes up and down depending on the result. Sport can never replace real life, it just compliments.

As a neutral, just watching India's opening partnership was epic. Still dreaming about the day when we would have someone as good opening for us. Right now, we have Matt Prior. India isn't the first team to mess up the pp and won't be the last. Teams should bat like they do in the first 10 overs. Take the odd chance but don't go crazy. That pp really cost India.

Right now' date=' we have Matt Prior.[/quote'] Prior was always a strange pick...Davies had done alright opening in his limited opportunities. Prior has such a dreadful ODI and List A record that it makes no sense to keep playing him, no matter how good he is in Test cricket.

Davies is also one of the best players (if the the best) in the domestic limited overs games. Not saying that he is great but he should have been given a chance. Prior has been so good in tests that people forget how poor he has been in the other format. We also have this stupid obsession with keepers opening the batting. Another reason to blame the damn Aussies.

Interesting about Davies being one of the best in domestic limited overs...makes the continual obsession with Prior in ODI cricket all the more bizarre. Mind you, Prior's not the only one who you guys would be better off restricting to Tests - Bell and Anderson though they've been successful in ODIs in the past (unlike Prior) are increasingly looking out of it in ODIs. Probably some things for England to address whether or not they make the quarter finals of this tournament

Playing different forms of the game and being equally good is tough. Our selection is so confused. Either we pick a test team (Athers, Hussain and co) or we go the other way and pick players who aren't good enough for international cricket (Brown, Maddy, Hollioake and 800 others). The current team is pretty decent in comparison but for a couple of poor selections. Jimmy's problem is not ODIs but conditions. He is very good when the ball does something. Take the last time you chaps were here in 07 as an example. He bowled really well at Old Trafford and Edgbaston when it helped him. Get to the Oval he got taken to the cleaners by Tendulkar. In fact, it's the case even in tests but the Ashes down under might be a turning point. In the subcontinent, he bowls the perfect length to hit.

its truly sad that to see the most reasonable and well thought out post on an INDIAN CRICKET FORUM after this close loss has come from a paki... agree 100% with the OP
manny, if everyone and in particular you start helping to create an appropriate environment on icf, belive me it will play the dividends for everyone. :--D any same for every other :icflove: er

What do you make of Bell in ODIs? In Tests he has turned the corner with those performances in SA and against Aus but its the same old hesitancy in ODIs which makes one wonder if he just never will "get" ODI cricket.

I've always been surprised by the India-Pak hate on forums online. The ones who I know appear to get along really well.
Hello analyst your team also played Jamie Foster during 2009 t20 where he has been after that and what do you make of Englands performance so far why or where did they go wrong yesterday heard that Bob Willis laid into them what did he say

Yeah, Bell has certainly done that since the tour of SA. He had a terrific domestic season of limited overs cricket, including a hundred in the final at Lord's, and really had to be picked. The problem is that his success for Warwickshire has been at number 3. He needs to open or bat at 3. He isn't really the type of player who can play lower than that (a bit like Gambhir). So at the point, we're not sure. I'd like to see him given a chance up the order. If he fails there as well, you know that he isn't good enough and can look to another player. Looks unlikely though.

Foster is a class act behind the stumps and is the best keeper in the country. The problem is that his batting isn't very good. Yeah, Bob Willis was pissed of as usual. He said that Trott batted like a school boy while Morgan batted like a champion. Prior also got ripped for his brain fart and Strauss for his captaincy.

Where do you think Strauss is going wrong he looked shell shocked yesterday and TBH ANDERSON has always been poor in Asia then ton why was he selected? And i also remember that how Foster used to drop catches in 2002 during India tour

2001 tour of India actually. Did he drop many? I don't remember any. In any case, it was his first tour. He wasn't ready back then and he has said that himself. Anderson was picked because he is our "strike" bowler and the general belief is that he has improved as a bowler and has more variety to bowl outside England. You're right though, his record in Asia is poor. When we won the T20 last year, Anderson wasn't picked in the 11. Sidebottom played in his place. We could try Tremlett but the worry is that he might also find it tough without the bounce. Broad's injury was a big blow (far greater than FIGJAM's injury) since he is our best bowler in this format. Right now, it's only Bresnan and Swann.
