Ultimate_Game Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Have to doff my cap to the aussies :hatsoff: I knew they were unbeaten in 2003 and 2007 tourneys but never realized they have been unbeaten in 33 consecutive games in the world cups! I would be happy to see my team unbeaten for even half as many games No matter what ppl say about aussies when it really matters aussies do really show up. Hope we play them at some stage and end their unbeaten run just like we did when they were on the roll in Tests TWICE (winning 16 Tests in a row twice and getting undone by India both the times) :smiley:

I think we had our share of defeats and tie as well in the tourney :smiley: And hopefully law of averages will finally catch up with aussies this time round.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 they havent had any difficult games. sri lanka was the one they were 99% certain to lose (why do u think ponting criticized the pitch?) but it was rained off. pakistan is a potentially difficult game for them because of the reason i mentioned in another one ofthe australia threads yesterday. but one thing is for sure, they are nowhere near as good as they were in 2003 and 2007.those two teams are the greatest ODI teams of all time. this one has more weak links and can be beaten

I was giving them credit for their consistent run over the years and across 3-4 world cups.

I, and most folks on this forum and others I know, have Aussies as the favorite against Pak. Mike Hussey was a great addition to the team and as I said earlier only a turner will upset the aussies.
nsaviguru Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Aussies are bit over hyped like the English were before the world cup, lets remember one thing they haven't faced a quality opposition till date, they haven't had any tough/competitive games so far. In my opinion due the those issues they are actually very vulnerable then the teams which have already faced some adversity and have had good competitive matches. I see the Aussies boarding a plane back to their homeland after the Quarters or Semis. Fingers crossed I really hope I am right, just CANNOT stand the sight of Aussies winning their 4th world cup in a row.
