The likely top 7 batsmen will be Sehwag Sach Gambhir Kholi Yuvraj Dhoni Pathan These are going to be flat pitches so likely only one spinner Harbhajan. 3 Seamers - Nehra, Zak and Munaf Obviously the flat tracks will be a huge advantage to the batsmen. However, India has one of the worst groups of seamers. Do you guys think the flat pitches will work in favor of India's batmen or will teams and bowlers like Malinga/Steyn be able to contain them? How about bowlers like Nehra and Zak? Will the get hit for 7-8 an over on these flat pitches? I personally would have preferred the QF in Chennai with a total turning track suited to India spinners and the final group match in Mohali.

Man we should replace Gambhir he is useless we should have Pathan at 3 :--D but if we end up in Semis i think Sree should be played at Mohali bowling combo should be ZAK-MUNAF-SREE-BHAJ-YUVI-RAINA-YUSUF

My concern is the bowling will get smashed to smithereens as India have the worst pace attack. Also forget about Sree playing another match - Dhoni hates him.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I would have preferred quarter and semi to be played in Chennai and B'lore (the practice match pitch) and on a flat deck we should go with 2 pacers and 2 spinners (hopefully with Ashwin in the team) as on a flat deck our medium paced trundlers are way too lousy to be effective.

jonas10 Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 I haven't changed my opinion on Gambhir. That is the team I expect them to field. Had I my way Gambhir wouldnt be on that team. Kohli would be #3 Dhoni #4 Yuvraj #5 and Raina #6 Pathan 7. Anyways thats besides the issue. Point is will India's batting power utilize the flat pitches or will the poor seamers cost them the matches?

Dude He averages 42 with 168 run in this Wc other two are Viru and Tendulkar if u take out his 51 from that tied game we lost 7 wickets for 42 then last game take out his 69 then what was the score champ Y.P aint gonna fire in every match
jonas10 Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Gambhirfan....I think Kohli is a better #3 he is one of the top 5 batsmen in the world as per ICC rankings. Putting him at 6 or 7 is a complete waste and he should be in at #3. Same with Dhoni who is excellent as a #4 and with him and Kohli between the wickets they would be a great 3/4. Pathan wont always fire but that one time he does could save India. Here is hoping that no matter who they field they will be able to light it up on flat tracks!
