We have always dominated the runs especially Sachin since 1996 WC and 2007 was an one off failure especially due to our early exit. Check out this thread where I have mentioned about all the batting stats and how we have always had the top run scorer in every world cup since 1996 barring 2007. http://indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=263161 Sachin and Veeru are just continuing it again this time and 2007 was just an one off accident and nothing else. Nothing has changed.

Nothing has changed. Yaar, when did I deny any of it? I was merely pin pointing specifically the disastrous 2007 World Cup. At that point Tendulkar was struggling to put bat to ball, and Ponting was scoring runs for fun. sehwag was going through the worst patch of his life at that time. Most fans back then wouldn't imagine in their wildest dreams that this would happen in the 2011 World Cup.

If he top scores in this World Cup, it'll make it 3 such World Cups. Would be marvelous for a player to top score in 3 out of 6 World Cups that he played. But maybe I'm speaking a bit too early.

The Master has done it twice in the past and why would he not do it a third time. He has setup the record for highest runs in 1996 and broke it himself again in 2003. It is just a game for him which he missed by fluke once. :winky: Even Dravid has done that in 1999 when we did not even make it to the semi-finals and Dravid was not even a regular in the ODI side. That is how easily we do it. So, I would not understand why would any Indian or Sachin fan not imagine it in their so called WILDEST DREAMS. No offense but your second post in this thread is a :fail: too. :P You are assuming as if Ponting is the baap of cricket or something. Sachin has been creating these records even when Ponting was not in the international spotlight.

Most fans didn't even believe that his body would last till this World Cup, let alone him putting up such sparkling performances. And it only gets worse with age, they don't get better. Tendulkar has defied all odds and human concepts.

Tendulkar has defied all odds and human concepts.[/quote'] I understand your point but I consider it as an insult to Sachin when you compare an one-off performance by Pwnting with the consistent records of Sachin in all these world cups. Ponting is nowhere near Sachin in world cups and 2007 was just a one off fluke. It is like comparing the one off "blue moon" spell by Nehra to the consistent performances by Zak.

I was just highlighting how well Ponting was going at that phase, and how Tendulkar's ODI career seemed over even for his die hard fans like myself. Anyways, would love to see him bag another hundred tomorrow, God willing.
