glogirl Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 i skipped break fast and for the knock out stages. oh my god i'm dam hungry still all i had after the match was some wonder cake.
akshayxyz Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I just didn't watch....just like I do with my Dallas Stars. As much as I try being rational, the goddamned sports-based superstition always returns in some form. Exactly same here. In other parts of my life I keep debating in favor of rationality and all that. But I have done my share of stupid things on and since 24th. 24th was my b'day, I skipped all celebration requests, or "watch together" requests. Grabbed a bottle of whisky and about 4 litres of Soda. Locked myself in the room. Watched first innings w/o single drop of daaru. Went all out heavy drinking from end of first inning onwards. Because of tense second innings on 24th, I went full-time pessimist and started cribbing every single over (over gtalk with my friends and on ICF). Even when UV and Raina made it 22 odd runs required. I kept cribbing we are so gonna lose. Once I figured this winning recipe - I followed exactly on 30th and 2nd. Watched all the matches alone, with same brand of whisky, same amount of soda, [even though yesterday I wanted to switch to beer, because of week long of heavy drinking on whisky]. And as usual in the second innings, kept cribbing our performance with my friends on gtalk and on ICF. My head is still heavy from yesterday's drinking and reading each and every recent post here on ICF. Another little story. Blue had been my unlucky color during 2008-2009. It was becoming so frequent that whenever something bad happened, I found myself wearing some blue tshirt or something blue. But since i am sort of extreme rationalist that I wore more and more blue tshirts :).. but for this worldcup - when people started shouting blue - it reminded me of my 'blue-days' so I made it a point to not to wear blue. In fact in all the KO matches I did not even wear a shirt, only shorts :) (not for superstition, but for comfort.. it has gotten a bit hotter in bangalore these days).
akshayxyz Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I have'nt shaved since the QFs :giggle: I haven't shaved since 30th.. but thats more due to laziness and too much ICF-ing.
akshayxyz Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 I dont watch matches live alone. I walked around my area going from one public TV to another and watching with total strangers. In the end I had walked nearly 15 kms before the match got over, and made lots of new cricket crazy friends. :nice: That is awesome way to watch the match. Would want to try this in next WC - but will have to figure out a way to stay on ICF too.
akshayxyz Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Oh and after Sachin got out... DD National :isalute: That is the bravest thing to do :hatsoff:
akshayxyz Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Didn't post in the match-tracker :P For someone like you - that is amazing restraint.!
