satyam1729 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 That doesn't clear the contradictory points you made up there ^. You would prefer seeing our previous and other sporting legends get the BR for their contribution to Indian sport, but at the same time, you cite Dhoni being 'irreplaceable' as the reason for him deserving India's highest honour? I can see Dhoni getting the Bharat Ratna in years to come, and I'm not denying that, but to say Sachin Tendulkar can be replaced really is a gaffe. And Dhoni still has plenty of years left in cricket. I don't know why you've got your knickers in a twist over that. In the same vein and as per your reasoning, Kapil Dev should have got a Bharat Ratna too. What about him? (I think he should, btw). Yes Kapil Dev should have been given.
Javier Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 India can replace Sachin but can't replace Dhoni. What Rubbish. If the current Indian squad took on the strongest Australian side of all time , you will see India losing all there matches with or without Dhoni but Sachin would still be scoring runs /centuries and giving his contribution . Thats what makes Sachin great .
ganeshran Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yes Kapil Dev should have been given. dude this is the Bharat Ratna we are talking about, not some Padma award that can be given to just about everyone. Its been given only to 41 people till now.
CSK Fan Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Yes Kapil Dev should have been given. You have no idea what the Bharat Ratna stands for. IMO even Sachin getting one is debatable
CSK Fan Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 With all due respect' date=' India can replace Sachin but can't replace Dhoni.[/quote'] Yes after 21 years of service India can replace Sachin. After 10 years India can replace Dhoni. Just like we replaced Kapil and Gavskar. Life moves on no matter who you are. Whats your point?
pinkfreud Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 dude this is the Bharat Ratna we are talking about, not some Padma award that can be given to just about everyone. Its been given only to 41 people till now. I think Kapil sort of deserves it, tbh. But then again there's the issue of who is most deserving.. and Kapil simply doesn't fall in that 'must get the Bharat Ratna' category. Sachin absolutely does. I think this guy is confusing the Khel Ratna or whatever with the BR. Because as per his logic all the greatest sportspeople in India should get the Bharat Ratna.
Karan114 Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I think this guy is confusing the Khel Ratna or whatever with the BR. Because as per his logic all the greatest sportspeople in India should get the Bharat Ratna. Yep, it seems so.
super_kings Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 dude this is the Bharat Ratna we are talking about, not some Padma award that can be given to just about everyone. Its been given only to 41 people till now. 8 of them are from Tamil Nadu. It looks like DMK's blackmail politics is working. :haha::haha::haha:
akshayxyz Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Dhoni deserves more than Sachin. Lets hear your perspective on what one must have done to be even nominated for "Bharat Ratna".
akshayxyz Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 With all due respect' date=' India can replace Sachin but can't replace Dhoni.[/quote'] With your logic - Sachin would have had 15-20 Bharat Ratna's by now. Even Zaheer Khan, Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Dravid, Mahesh Bhupathi, Leader Paes, Pankaj Advani, Saina Nehwal. Heck - we would end up distributing Bharat Ratna - as if we are ..... no words.
Asoka Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 8 of them are from Tamil Nadu. It looks like DMK's blackmail politics is working. :haha::haha::haha: Almost all of them are deserving. Anand and Sachin deserve Bharat Ratna.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Almost all of them are deserving. Anand and Sachin deserve Bharat Ratna.
Cricket Tragic Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Looks like people don't really understand how big the Bharat Ratna is. It's not an award that is given to everyone.
Asoka Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Rajagopalachari C.V Raman Radhakrishnan Kamaraj M.G.R Abdul Kalam Subbalakshmi Chidambaram Subramaniam I believe at least 7 of them are deserving. But if you are one of those jerks who rates SRK above Kalam, never mind.
Sachin=GOD Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 Rajagopalachari C.V Raman Radhakrishnan Kamaraj M.G.R Abdul Kalam Subbalakshmi Chidambaram Subramaniam I believe at least 7 of them are deserving. But if you are one of those jerks who rates SRK above Kalam, never mind. I don't rate SRK over Kalam. Kalam deserved it fully. But I believe that Politicians should'nt be given the Bharat Ratna unless they have done exceptionally good work. So I have my doubts over MGR & Kamaraj but others deserved it.
ganeshran Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 8 of them are from Tamil Nadu. It looks like DMK's blackmail politics is working. :haha::haha::haha: I think the MGR award was the only one for political reasons - ironically he doesnt belong to the DMK. And I am not sure about the reasoning behind the award to Chidambaram Subramaniam - dont know too much about him. But, Remaining all of them have been undoubted stalwarts in their spheres. If you think otherwise, state your reasoning. DMK has ill gotten a lot of things unfairly from the center because of state politics, but the Bharat Ratnas are not one of them.

Kamaraj was a very deserving person to get the award. And I am not saying because I am a southie. His era of politics was completely different from the one now, an extremely simple and honest guy who didnt play petty politics. He was also the architect of a number of welfare schemes.
Indian Pride Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 With all due respect' date=' India can replace Sachin but can't replace Dhoni.[/quote'] Completely disagree. India has produced good captains before, Dhoni now, Ganguly and others. They will produce more in the future. Sachin is not a once in a generation player, nor a once in a lifetime player, nor a once in a millenia player.. He is a once in an eternity player. Everything about him, not just his batting skill, screams GENIUS. He is the yard stick that all other sportsman will be measured against. How priviliged am I to have been born in the same generation. Quite simply, THE GREATEST.
