akshayxyz Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 Instead of analyzing the LBW decision with hawk eye and all other stuff' date='[b'] Pak fans would be better if they also start to analyse their brain and think why does that malfunction and starts giving error every time their team loses. It would be a better exercise. Seriously, the game is over, move on, if can't do that than go and cry to ur amma. stackoverflow.
ganeshran Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011  Assuming that you have some knowledge of trigonometry. Tenduklar's leg is almost exactly at the midpoint (along the length of pitch) between the stumps and the point where ball pitched. Now consider the horizontal distance - Ball pitched about 1.5-2 stumps outside off. At the point of impact with Sachin's leg - it had already angled enough to be in front of middle stump. With this you can calculate the angle at which it is traveling. With almost same amount of distance to cover, as it did between pitching point and impact on leg - it would further drift about another 1.5 to 2 stumps further towards leg. And that would be enough to miss the leg stump. Let me know which part (estimates or calculation) in above you do not agree with. Now all this is rough estimation and calculation done with naked eyes/brain - and not even using a basic ruler. That is where Hawkeye comes into picture and does accurate calculation - as accurate as is possible. If someone claims that today's technology is not good enough to be capable of doing such calculations - well I can show tonnes of research projects and actual examples - with even more complex object/motion tracking. Please dont use logic in this thread It was out because Ian Gould shook his head after that decision was overturned
