He is happy for the team and the country but disappointed at having missed out on being part of history. It could also have been him celebrating after the final at Wankhede had it no been for an elbow injury that ruled him out of the tournament. “It was disappointing to lose out on the World Cup berth due to injury. I have missed the golden opportunity and whenever I see the pictures of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the boys taking a victory lap at Wankhede Stadium, I wish I could have been there had I not got injured,†Praveen said. “But injuries are part and parcel of a fast bowler’s life and one cannot do much about that. When such thing happens one has to understand that there are enough opportunities ahead. It was lovely to see the Indian team lift the Cup and they played like champions throughout the tournament,†he said after arriving in Chandigarh to join Kings XI Punjab squad. Praveen though, hoped to make amends in the IPL now and earn his place back in the Indian team. “I am fully fit now and raring to perform in IPL. I have been spending time at NCA in Bangalore under Ashish Kaushik and doing strengthening work after the surgery. Right now my focus is on giving performance in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab. I have been working on my batting too in the recent times. There are some important tours coming up next for the Indian team. I will aim to do well in whatever tournament I play ahead of the tours and look for a comeback.†‘MSD, Gary best’ Praveen also praised outgoing coach Gary Kirsten for his efforts and added that he was one of the major reasons for Team India’s recent success. “He is a superb coach. He exactly knew what he wanted from each player of the team. Under him the Indian team gelled well and the result is front of everyone. He behaved like a player with the team and the team emerged as well planned unit under him.†Praveen also rated Dhoni as the best Indian captain and said that his leadership quality is “unquestionableâ€. “Dhoni is the best captain and there is no doubt about that. He is just a class apart. He has proven to the world that his leadership quality is unquestionable. He showed the world that how cricket is played. He is such a calm and composed man,†he said.
